Hello Everyone, As a CNA, I was hired and trained by a hospital system to be a Patient Care Tech. more than ten years ago. I really loved my work and stayed at that hospital for several years (this was 2000-02 when the job market was good.). However at the time, my job was in a medium sized Southern town and frankly as an outsider, missed the cosmopolitan life style that I grew up with. To cut a long, self-centered story short, I moved away and even though I had a number of CNA, HHA jobs since then in 3 other states , nothing was as interesting or as fulfilling as my PCT. work which is one of the reasons I am presently in Atlanta. Any Recruiters, Nurses, CCP's , is it really a long shot to get hired again as a PCT/Clinical Care Partner? Any advice would be appreciated.

pbajil, Unfortunately this happens, one does get recruiters who are on a power trip and not considerate at all of the candidates before them. The golden rule -Treat others as you would want to be treated - appears not to apply to some hospitals who think they are elite. I felt like being interviewed for a ghost job.

Hi All, Do not know if there are any CNA's/PCT's out there but has anyone had a really weird unprofessional experience when being interviewed by a HR 'Specalist' in a hospital? One of the statements she made was that she did not know what CNA's did in nursing homes so I had to go to the trouble of explaining that. She also wanted to know what I had found wrong with the nursing home I had previously worked in. To me that is the last thing one should be asked I was extremly uncomfortable and evasive with my answer as I enjoyed my previous workpace. I was also under the impression that she had not looked at my resume until I was sitting before her. I left that office a nervous wreck , should I contact the HR Mgr or something to complain?

Has anyone recently tried to apply for a job as a nurse tech./CNA at St. Francis in Columbus Ga? I do have recent CNA experience and past PCT experience , but am concerned because of the present job market.

NurseMike, Thank you for your quick response. I am discouraged by the fact that I would be unable to do the skills that I had previously done as a PCT. May you and everyone at the hospital there have a nice Christmas.

NurseMike, Am interested in applying for a Clinical Associate position at Ruby.....is this similar to being a Patient Care Tech where one can do dressing changes, EKG's, etc. along with regular CNA work? Any information would be appreciated.

I do hope the job is going well there....do they use PCT's there?

Hey Nanetpetatucci, Just keep your options open, from the research I have done , homecare agencies are hiring, some require 6 months work exp. some not. Do footwork-actually go from nursing home to nursing home with your resume-see if they are hiring.

Heya Hopeful! May I suggest looking at other CNA options - such as nursing homes, homecare agencies etc? Just turn up and ask what they have available. Hospitals are incredibly slow in responding and also appear to be extremely particular. As someone who has had distant nursing home/ hospital experience and having pursued other opportunities for personal reasons, appear to be ignored. So keep your options open!!!!! Good Luck.....

Does anyone know of where the best job opportunities are in the Tampa Bay/Clearwater area are? I have past hospital experience and more recently homecare experience , have applied at hospitals relatively recently . Are they really popular with CNA job seekers? Just kind of discouraged by the lack of response. Any experiences/knowledge would be appreciated.

Hi, Does anyone know of any Tampa Bay nursing agencies which do not require you to have a medical exam and PPD test BEFORE you get hired?

Thanks for the responses and info. everyone. It was quiet enlightening. I have looked up the Prometric website and found the skills list. I do feel quiet competent - am just a bit wary as the actual testing is done where people take the Test Prep. course. Are the testers employed by Prometric or whom?

Hi All, Can anyone tell me how the skills test is when one is being tested in Florida? I have worked in the past as a CNA and do have the Prometric skills list - are the testers' extremely particular? Am planning on practicing on a volunteer. Any information would be appreciated.
