  1. "The portfolio must contain the following items in this specific order: 1) Cover sheet with your complete name, GPA, and only one (1) area of interest ".... Oh, I must have read it wrong then. So you just had a sheet listing those 3 things as the first page?
  2. Who did you address your cover letter to? Nurse recruiter?
  3. I am also from the bay area and will be submitting my portfolio the day of my interview on Friday.
  4. For the 1-page essay required in the portfolio, did everyone single space, 1.5 space, or double space? :)
  5. If you are offered a spot, take it. Like the others said, you might be more qualified and you shouldn't feel bad about that. It's hard nowadays to get into nursing school.
  6. Congratulations!
  7. I chose med-surg... 2:45pm appt!
  8. Oh how I feel your pain. I also graduated May 23, 2009, almost a year... My parents are on me about finding a job so that I can pay for my own health insurance and they really don't understand how hard it is. I have my 2nd in-person interview at Cedars-Sinai for a new grad position this Friday. I need a miracle!
  9. Wow... I totally missed the deadline for this new grad program and was mad at myself for procrastinating. I was trying to complete it on April 30th (the closing day) but they took it off their website hehe... now I see it was a waste to even apply seeing that they hired internally! It's sad that this new grad program was posted on INDEED and all those other job hunting sites only to find out that pretty much everyone was rejected because they hired internally.
  10. I had a phone interview last Friday and it lasted roughly 10 mins. Just found out this Wednesday, I got the 2nd interview
  11. I got the 2nd interview also.. and I'm from nor-cal.. it's so expensive for flights.. i'm freaking out about how I'm gonna pay for this! congrats to those who also got the 2nd interview!!
  12. I am scheduled for a phone interview tomorrow for the first-phase. Can anyone who went through the interview give me advice/tips on what to prepare for? I was kind of blind-sided because they scheduled it for tomorrow and I have been waiting for the email for phone interview confirmation for a month and just received a confirmation today for an interview tomorrow at noon! :)
  13. Cool, I wish I had this when I was studying for Nclex haha
  14. Does that mean you were not the first to know that you were an RN? Haha the same thing happened to me last month! Apparently my nosy cousin who is also an RN looked me up on the website and found my name there and called me @ 2 in the morning wondering why I haven't told her I passed when in reality I had no clue results were up yet! CONGRATULATIONS!! :)
  15. I hate to say this... but I seriously just guessed! You know how some meds have suffixes that help categorize in them? Well the meds I got had no familiar suffixes or anything to help give me a clue to what it was. There was no Digoxin, Atenolol, Lisinopril, theophylline, or any of the meds that were supposedly common on my test! I would like to think that maybe the meds I got were part of the 15 experimental questions that everyone gets on their test haha!
  16. I also got 1 math question and passed with a total of 75 questions :)
  17. Diagnostic: 59 Trainer 1: 61 Trainer 2: 60 Trainer 3: 51 Trainer 4: 55 Trainer 5: 62 Trainer 6: 66 Trainer 7: 58 Readiness: 64 Overall Qbank: 60% I felt like I would never be ready to take the test but the last 2 weeks before my test is when I felt most confident because I was scoring in the 60s in qbank. Needless to say, I passed NCLEX the first time with 75 questions! Honestly, NCLEX questions are more basic than Kaplan questions. Don't be afraid if you get knowledge questions. I got 1 math question, at least 5 select all that apply, 2 drag and drops, a bunch of priority questions, a bunch of meds I had never even heard of and I really thought I failed since I felt like I guessed on 90% of the test. I compared my overall Qbank and Trainer scores with my classmates and I found that those with overall Qbank scores >57% passed. GOOD LUCK!! :)
