  1. Is anyone else freaking out about his movie anlaysis, I am so confused!
  2. I start July 1st too. I would like to know if books are required too. I am tired of buying books and having no need for them.
  3. Yes they do and they do not have a maximum amount of CLEP credits that you can transfer per the Academic Partnership Rep. that I spoke with on the phone. UTA does have a list of CLEP credits that they will accept for credit on the testing portion of their website.
  4. If the doctor was aware and gave the ok for the nurse to call in the prescription for another nurse then fine, no wrong doing. Now if the physician was not even aware of the prescription being called in, there could be some major legal ramifications. Fraud, Practicing Medicine without a physicians license, losing their nursing license, fines, jail time, etc. This could be reported to the DEA for further investigation. You might just ask the Doc too if you know him well enough? Sticky situation.
  5. As long as your CXR is negative, then you have nothing to worry about. A positive PPD just means at some point you were exposed to TB that in now way means you have active TB. I have worked with plenty of nurses that had positive PPD's and have to get a CXR yearly, but they don't keep you from working as long as you don't have an active case of TB. Good LUCK.
  6. I had nearly the same experience, went for back pain to an ER for the same company I work for. I have had a herniated disk at T7-T8 in that past, I could not even walk in, my wife had to go get a wheelchair. I was in so much pain that I sat in the waiting room shaking, sweating, and vomited. Not that I wanted pain meds, although they never gave me anything for the pain, nausea, NOTHING! Sent me home with a script for vicodin and skelaxin. Just typing this makes me ticked off and I think I will write a letter. But yet we treat frequent offenders coming in for pain meds and yet have no substantiated reason to have such pain. Bunch of B.S.
  7. In Texas most employers have a 90 day probationary period, you can quit or they can terminate you without any notice in that 90 day period. I started a job and worked 3 weeks into it and HATED it, so I quit. Don't list it on any resume or applications, just quit and start over.
  8. Frankly if your smoking pot for whatever reason. I wouldn't want you taking care of me or my family members, CNA,RN,MD whatever.
  9. In Texas they will ask when applying for an LVN or RN licensure if you have ever been treated for a mental disorder. Which Bipolar would be included. From what I have heard, you will have to go through a "process", like having your doctor submit paperwork, etc. They do not list restrictions on your license because of illnesses from what I have seen. Call or get on the website for the State board you would be applying to and find out what their requirements are. Good LUCK!
  10. Night shift is $3 above base rate and $4 more dollars on top of your base pay for weekends. So if you worked nights and weekends that would be $7 on top of your base pay. Overtime is only given for hours over 40hrs for the week. PRN requirement for my hospital is 48 hours a month, which is one 12 hour shift a week. Every hospital is different, this is just what I have seen at the hospital I am at now.
  11. Check out University of Texas at Arlington, Academic Partnership RN-BSN. 100% online, one class at a time, affordable like $8000 I think. UTA is on of the top nursing schools in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Good LUCK.
  12. It is definetly the norm right now in DFW. All of the hospitals have gotten together and made it a priority to have new hires have their BSN's. I think this is total bullcrap. I was lucky enough to get a position offered to me in critical care with a ADN. But I have 3 years experience as an RN and 3 years as an LVN. Definetly will be working on my BSN next after I get comfortable in my new job. Good luck and just be persistent.
  13. In our area if you want to bypass the red tape of hospital HR's then some nurses get a job with an agency. Just a thought.
