UW Oshkosh Acclerated Online October Cohort Applicants?
CHINBLK, My letter states that those who have been offered admission have until 6/30 to secure their places. Those that don't, those spots will be offered to Waitlisted candidates. So it says that I will be notified after 6/30 about admissions. I wish I knew exactly how much later that was. A week, a month...??? lol.

UW Oshkosh Acclerated Online October Cohort Applicants?
So....I received a letter today through regular postal mail that I was put on the waitlist for the October cohort. In essence if enough people decide not to do the program, then I have a chance of getting in. Does anyone know exactly how many people are put on the waiting list? Or is there anyone that has been through the program or is in it now that was accepted after being put on the waiting list? I guess I'm just interested to know what my odds are, since essentially this isn't a firm denial either.

UW Oshkosh Acclerated Online October Cohort Applicants?
Congratulations to those who have received notification!! How exciting!! I haven't heard anything yet. I do have two chem classes that I was going to take over the summer, and I'm hoping that isn't what has held me back. I didn't do them previously because I didn't want to take them without knowing for sure about the program because I'l already signed up for an ADN program for the fall. Still keeping my fingers crossed that I get in.

Anyone aplying to UW Oshkosh Accel. BS to BSN?
For those of you who have been through the admissions process for the accelerated BSN.....does every candidate get an email interview? After the email interviews, does everyone get a phone interview? Or is the phone interview a pretty good indicator that you will be accepted? I'm just curious if there are any steps that are only for those candidates that they are in serious consideration of. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Can anyone share any information about the interview process for the accelerated program? I know there is an e-mail interview, is that basically like an essay format? And then do you only get a phone interview if you "pass" the e-mail interview portion? Also what about timelines does anyone know how soon you have one after the other? Any information you'd be willing to share would be great! Thank you.

Cardinal Stritch ADN program & tuition?
Trust me I know, the $10,000 seems very daunting. I like you would only have to do the core nursing classes. So my estimated budget given that I'd have only have to complete 41 credits is $30,000 without books of course. They do offer scholarships for good grades but you have to be going full time. I wouldn't be full time until the very last semester just because of all the coursework I already have complete. Also it's a five semester ADN program, so that is also somewhat frustrating because it's a semester longer than if going to WCTC or MATC for the ADN. If you are interested in attending I would highly suggest going to one of their information nursing sessions.

Cardinal Stritch ADN program & tuition?
Tuition and fees for a full time student are $10,000 per semester. If you are a part time student it is $700 per credit. I am thinking about attending there in the fall and have been to their orientation sessions. I think it's quite pricey and I haven't been awarded financial aid yet either so I'm not sure how much in loans, scholarships, or grants are available. Hope this helps!

On Line Microbiology
I took Microbiology, online through CCConline. My home school was Pike's Peak. I'm an out of state student so the cost for me was a little bit higher than if you were in Colorado. With book, lab pack, microscope and tuition it was $1500. Anyhow, it's definitely doable, a little timeconsuming but here's the breakdown. There are 15 chapters to read. A quiz on each chapter, good thing is the professor allows you to take each quiz twice and you get to keep the higher score. And there are 5 unit exams. Quizzes are 10 questions each and you get 30 minutes to do them, open book. Exams are 50 questions each and you have 2 hours to take them, open book. There are 13 labs and they are a bit time consuming and planning ahead is essential! There are also, 5 lab quizzes (15 questions, 30 minutes) that can only be taken once and lab set questions (5 sets) you submit for each labset. The class also requires weekly online discussions. These are actually pretty interesting. The professor also gives extra credit discussions. And there is a 3-5 page paper you need to do on a disease/illness relating to microorganisms. I know it seems like a lot, but the class is definitely doable. It just depends on how disciplined and organized you are to get the requirements done. For example there are 5 units (10 week accelerated class), each unit consists of approx. 4 chapters to read, 4 chapter quizzes, one exam, 3 labs, 1 lab quiz, lab questions, and 2 discussions. You have two weeks to complete the requirements for each unit. So if you split the work up some for each week, it's not too bad. It is alot of work but it's not "hard". No memorization really, just alot of reading and time consuming labs.

Anyone aplying to UW Oshkosh Accel. BS to BSN?
Does anyone know if there's a chance for someone to get into the program who's CNA certified but has never done work experience as a CNA? I plan on applying for the October 2009 cohort group. I have a BBA and MBA in business. My gpa is high, I have (all but one) prereqs complete, and will be CNA certified by January but will not have had any work experience as a CNA. How much do they weigh this component?

Sodium-potassium pump and what if scenario
In A&P 2, professor has given us a case study on sodium-potassium pumps. The "what if" scenario is: what happens if a patients is infused with a 5% potassium bag (yes that's correct 5%)? What will happen to the RMP of the patient's excitable cells? Will it be more likely that our patient's cells are able to produce action potentials? Why or why not? What is the ultimate fate of the patient? I understand how the general function of action potentials work, but I am clueless when the cells are being bombarded with this much potassium. Any advice, links or websites to check out?
