Blessing in disguise???
Ok this might turn out to be a long post, but I am so frustrated. I have been planning on moving back to Toledo, thought I had it all worked out. Two weeks ago I had interviewed at a HD clinic- Interview went great, was told I had the job and that I would most likely start orientation 1/19. Found an apartment, pending on the landlord varifying the job (my soon to be ex has ruined my credit- part of the reason for the move) So this past week I called the HD clinic just to touch bases with them, and varify the start date. The unit manager informed me that due to the fact that the headhunter who found me the job not complying with their chain of command, they would not be able to hire me- I was like oh great when were you going to tell me. Ok so back to square one- no job, no apartment Lesson learned- ditch the headhunter- she's more hassle than worth. So I fax my resume to Toledo Hospital and call the nurse recruiter there, she set me up an interview for this comming Thursday. It sounds like they have a good deal with relocation/sign on bonuses ect. Where as the HD clinic had nothing. Any of you out there work for Promedica....... Can you tell me about them??? Know any Toledo Landlords with apartments available- that are willing to look past what my soon- to be ex has done to my credit?? Thanks -KYMSRN

Lexington, KY
Hello- I have worked at all three big hospitals in Lexington. I currently work at St Joe main- which is by the way the highest paying of the three. I can't really say anything (other than the usual "stuff" you get at any hospital) bad about any of the three. St Joe east does have a long term care unit- LTACH I have never worked on the unit, but I have heard good things about it. But, it probably doesn't pay as much as some of the other LTC's in the area. I can say that as far as nurse:Pt ratios St. Joes is lower than UK's- at least Med surg. ( I did Ped's at CBH- so it I cant really compare it) But of course their were other perks at UK such as having supplies you needed, when you needed them, which isn't always the case at St. Joes. Another thing about UK is that at least last time I heard the employees were all up in arms over their insurance- it is outrageous what they are paying for coverage. Hope this helps- KYMSRN

considering the move
Hello all in Florida! My husband and I are seriouslly considering moving to Florida, probablly Ocalla or Jacksonville - he is a stallion mgr here in KY and we figure Ocalla would be our best bet for him to find a good job. I have read all the comments about nursing licensure in Florida and know it takes a while - so I need to get started now if we are going to do it, but I stil have questions. My main concern is the nurse to patient ratios in Florida- In KY I work on a medical floor of a fairly large hospital mainly renal/diabetic types. My unit manager here in KY is from Florida and says I have no idea what I am getting myself into where I am used to 1:6 or 1:7 according to my mgr I can expect more like 1:11 on a good day. Now I know that RN:PT ratios vary according level of acuity, but 1:11 seems a little too much for me. Any insight on what I can expect? Also any suggestions on good hospitals to work for in jacksonville or Ocalla? how far apart are they? is it feasible to live in Ocalla and commute to Jacksonville? Thanks in advance- KYMSRN

Mcallen area?
Did you end up going with any of the hospitals in Mcallen? I am thinking about relocating and it sounds like Rio Grande Regional Hospital has alot to offer- Is it too good to be true? let me know what you ended up doing.
