  1. dohms or department of health and medical services licensure exam is for the emirate of dubai only!but if you want to work to other emirates in the uae like sharjah, ajman, ras al khaimah you have to take the MOH or ministry of health exam, for abu dhabi GAHS or general authority for health services is needed.even if you want to work in clinics only DOHMS is still needed. without this license you cannot work as a nurse in dubai same with the other emirates. you need atleast 2 years working experience as a nurse in your home country. without the license also your employer will not provide any visa for you too. DOHMS exam is an oral exam only. there are 3-4 people who are going to ask several question regarding nursing, diseases and medicine.while for MOH it is a written exam while for GAHS is a combination of both!for those nurses who wants to work in dubai and planning to go on a visit visa you have to apply already online while still on the phil. so that when you come here you wont have to wait for long and at the same time visit visa now here in dubai is very difficult to obtain already!hope this help.
  2. to kxannudinhi. i am a foreign registered rn. is anybody familiar with the global scholarship alliance? it offers foreign nurses a fully funded msn scholarship at an accredited american university and a paid practical training as a nurse (part-time/full-time) at an on-campus hospital at the same time. several universities and hospitals throughout us serve as educational and training partners. if you are familiar with the program could i ask for any comment or advice? i am intending to participate in the said program. thank you so much! im a gsa scholar!most of my colleagues are ther in ny already!long island university!they finished their msn major in nurse executive already!they are on j1 visa!while studying for 3 years they are working partime on their affiliated hospital!but after graduation they have remaining 1 1/2 years to work as a full time.sadly i was late for my papers to be submitted thats why i was not able to join them!gsa applied me to another university in pennsylvania!millersville university,i was accepted together with the affiliated hospital, but the hospital wants their applicant to be filed on immigrant visa!thats why im still waiting for the retro to be lifted!
  3. i know how it feels of not been able to practice your profession, im a graduate of 2003, at that time nursing jobs in the phils. is really quite a mess because of so many nurses who are leaving their jobs just to fullfill that american dream!i been hospital hopping one after another, ive stayed for a few months then leave again for another one!because of the salary and my responsibility of being the eldest..i have to give up my work and look up for a better job in order to help my sister who is studying her nursing degree at that time.well luck is on my way my former CI offer me to become one of them, at first i couldnt believe it because i dont even have the qualification and experience for that!my only qualification is that (im not trying to boast) that im the top student of my graduating class!and i love also to share what i learn!so needless to say i become accustom with my job!being an educator and a nurse at the same time!(well nurses are not just nurses?we have many roles also)so for the past 5 years i enjoyed my job!but once in our life their will come a transition in which deep in you heart there is something missing, incomplete!the reason i took up nursing is to care for people who needed me...but everytime i look to those people (my love ones)who needed me, i changed my mind again...well maybe there is a better tomorrow for me abroad...AMERICA here i come! achievements ive done so far: 1.qualified for a scholarship for MSN in millersville university, pennsylvania 2.passed ielts (march2006) 3.passed nclex (june2006) 4.luckily to find an employer who can sponsor me inspite of my exp. but sadly retro comes in! i asked god why it has to be this way, were in your about to reach that road already then suddenly it will close and you dont know when it will be open again, then i realize there's a reason for everything!god has plan for each of us! maybe the reason is that i have to be emotionally, physically, and conditionally ready when i get there!well conditionally ready i dont know?BUT MY PLANS now is to go back where i started from!EXPERIENCE, EXPERIENCE,EXPERIENCE to those nurses like me who has to give up our CHOSEN VOCATION because of our responsibilty to our family?dont lose hope, someday, somehow will be able to achieve our dreams also!in god's perfect time!
  4. to anyone: hi im new to this site, i just want to ask regarding my case, my PD is august2006, last year when i check uscis they told me that my case was transfered already to nvc for visa processing.i check nvc for my case and they've given me a case number MNL2007XXXX.i want to know if whats the next step already for me?because a year has past i dont know the status of my case, if im documentarily qualified already?i remembered last june2007 my agency in manila send me thru email the ds230 for me to be filled up as soon as possible, because they have to send that to the US. in just a bit confused right now because after reading some of my fellow nurses who are waiting for their visas also is that they know their status already if their case is complete or not!i try to send email to nvc but their reply is that they cannot disclose any info about my case and i should talk to my lawyer instead!i call my agency in manila and they told me that their is no problem and i am documentarily qualified!but still my mind is killing me!because i didnt even submit any nbi, birth cert etc. with the ds230!i submitted those docs a long time ago! pls help!i dont know where im standing right now!ive been waiting for 2 years already and i dont know if my waiting is that worth for!:bluecry1::bluecry1:
