  1. I live in Florida. Why is it so difficult to get clear cut answers about our scope of practice, and what we can and cannot do? I have read the nurses practice act, and no where does it clearly outline what lpns can or cannot do. I ran into a dilema this week where an RN had accessed a port and hung some ABT on my patient. Well, she went home with the IV running, and I was unsure as to whether or not I could d/c the IV and flush the port with NS. I work in a LTC and so I called the DON and she said that according to the pharmacy, IV certified LPN's could hang, d/c, and flush ports. I would rather know if the state approves, not the pharmacy company, which is the company I got my IV cert. from. I went ahead and did it, and I charted what the DON had said. Still, is there anywhere we can find out exactly what we can/cannot do without placing a call to the FL BON everytime we have a question?
  2. Take it from a brand new nurse who just recently passed herself, just keep the faith!! I passed with 85, and about 6 more from my class have also. One girl in my class passed with 91, and two more have passed with 205. NO ONE has failed yet, so just be calm, pray and believe in yourself:yeah:
  3. Thanks everyone!! I begin my job Tuesday morning!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D
  4. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. What a beautiful story. I'm almost as happy about you passing as I am for myself..........ALMOST!! LOL
  6. Yes it is!!!
  7. Congrats!! We both made it!!
  8. :chuckleThanks for the prayer and encouragement. It does change things!! I passed, praise you Jesus! Hallelujah!!:chuckle:nurse:
  9. I passed everyone!! I hope you all did well, let us know!
  10. I just found out this morning that I passed and it shut off on me at 85. The wait is the worst part. I felt everything that you felt, like I had failed. Just keep the faith!
  11. I took the PN, 85 questions!
  12. And thank you to everyone on this site for all the encouragement and prayer! It really does work! I just found out and I'm just shaking from excitement!!
  13. Boy, it seems like we all took the same test, lol.
  14. Student 09, I am praying for you too. I am about to go crazy with the wait, but it will be so worth it as long as I pass. I can hardly wait until in the morning when I can check the results. I too am driving myself and everyone else nuts, and if one more person calls me and asks.......
  15. I am so happy for you! I pray I'll be posting the same thing soon!!
  16. I will, as soon as I find out, and you let me know too. Even the RN's who tested when I did said that their test were the same way.
  17. I am asking, because from reading the posts here, it seems as if the RN and PN are asking basically the same type of questions. And, after I finished my PN today, there were two other girls who were taking the RN and they said that they too had a lot of prioritizing, sata, and meds they knew nothing about on their tests. We didn't dare stand there and compare questions, but it seemed that the exam was basically based on the same things. They both also said they had infection control ?'s, and I had a lot of those two. None of us had more than 2 math. It's seems to be that way for everyone if what I'm reading here is true. Maybe the RN questions are harder or more in depth. If that's true, then I really dread taking that test when I go back to school for my RN.
  18. This sounds so much like me. I tested at 8am today, and I walked out of there feeling lost and have been ever since. I have always been a good student, I had a 99% chance of passing on the first try according to the ATI predictor, but all of that amounts to a hill of beans when that screen goes blank at 85. I had meds I have never heard of, a lot of prioritizing, like they will give you 4 pt. and you have to figure out who to assess firs, I had alot of teaching, and how do you know it's effective. I had infection control, and enough select all that apply to drive me insane. I know I will be miserable until I know something.
  19. I tested today and it shut off on me after #85. I had a lot of meds, sata, and prioritizing.
  20. Thanks for the encouragement. I tested today and left out of there so unsure. The screen was gray after question 85 and the test was over. My friend that tested with me had the same thing to happen for her. I am keeping the faith that it's a good sign.
  21. I test a 8 in the morning, and I am requesting prayer, as well as praying that God blesses each and everyone of you, and that all anxiety is relieved for those that are waiting to test, and waiting on results.
  22. It's too late to turn back now, and no matter how good I did in school, there's still that little voice in the back of my head, wondering if I should have postponed the test. The ATI predictor said I had a 99% chance of passing on the first time. Has it been wrong for anyone? BTW, I am taking the Nclex-PN, and I keep hearing that it's all pharmacology, no math, and a lot of select all that apply. I hate those. Please pray for me!!
