  4. Yes, thanks be to God I did it!! Thanks to everyone that supported and believed I could do it. I really would not have believed it myself if I had not seen my name and that wonderful new liscense number beside it on the BON website:yeah::w00t::cheers:!!![:an!:
  5. DanisTeeta, my state does not participate in quick results either. I took my test Jan 3rd, just got my results via the BON website for my state today Jan 9th. If you go there and enter your last name and last four of your ss# and the results have posted, and you passed your name will appear along with your brand new liscense number. Hope this helps you. God is good!!! Im still rejoicing. Thanks everyone and good luck to the those of you who are still waiting. Im sure it will be great news for you all!!!
  6. WOW!!! I passed!!! I passed!!! WOW....Thanks for the vote of confidence!!! .....doing a lil gig over here!!!lol
  7. I passed!!! WOW!!! Thanks for the support!!
  8. FLIGHT2RN I pray you are right about that 95% passing when the computer cuts off at 85. I took the test Jan 3rd and am still waiting on the results. My test cut off at 87 and I felt that I had guessed on almost all of the question. I studied for hours at a time for several weeks before the test and it seems like all my questions were hard questions I had never seen before. Guess I will know soon....
  9. I am reading over everyones comment and trying to find a slither of hope for myself. I took the NCLEX PN on Jan 3rd and have been sick with worry, doubt and a terrible feeling that i only got 3 out of 87 questions right! I wish I could have scheduled my test at the beginning of the week because Im having to wait it out over the weekend. I have not been able to sleep, or eat much. I have cried , prayed and begged God to let me pass. It was nothing like any of the 3000 plus questions i studied for several weeks before the test. I felt like i guessed at all but 3 questions and two of them were math. I am a "nervous nellie" over here! If i happen to have passed it, all I can say is God loves me and knew I really needed a miracle!
  10. Yes, we can understand the kids having to come to work with us at times. My oldest was with me a lot of times when he was a wee lad, had no choice, hubby worked two jobs. anyway but i never had to take hubby to work lol. guess the two jobs kept him too busy. hmmmmmmmmmmm!
  11. Hi Tonya, and welcome aboard, glad to have you. and keep moving forward. I too am cna working my way upward. yes the road seems so long but we can do it, just like all the rest have. good luck and welcome again :)
  12. why is it that folks are trying to find an easy way into nursing (healthcare) dealing with body fluids, poop, pus ect. are not the worst things in the world to deal with. this job or should i say profession is just what its name says. NURSING.......and nursings means caring for the needs of someone, others, self etc. so if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. all those thing are part of the profession and there is no way around it, except to advoid it all together.
  13. :) hi fr33shot, i just read your post, and i am in almost the same situation. i am now doing cna training 100 hrs. our classes are mainly centered on nursing home work. i am wondering if i should work afterwards in nursing home or hospital? i will begin classes for surgical tech in january. since i will definately be in a hospital after completing that program i was leaning more on hospital work now. but like you i really wasn't sure and the shift was a problem also. someone adviced me to do the 11:00-7:00 shift part time and surgical tech classes during day. more easy on you (less work at night) that may be so, but it would be hard for me to get any rest during the day. have kids. so i think i will do morning shift or evening shift. yes i do believe nursing homes pay more, but the work is more also, pts need more help. i am going to work i think in nursing home. good luck
  14. :) I hear that the pre-reqs can be tough on some. takes years sometimes to complete all courses. but after all the work it will be worth it. I am sure so will do good and make a good nurse. Best wishes. Take care. :)
  15. :) hbscott you sure have been quite successful in your career paths. nice homepage, and nice looking family. May sunshine always grace you and yours. Sincerely, Elaine
  16. :roll hbscott, that was absolutely wonderful, how did you manange so many career changes? I give you HIGH praise for the hard work and determination. How old were you when you first got started and how long did you stick with one career before moving on. I will be starting surgical tech program this January. Currently completing CNA training. Long term goal is sonography. Best wishes in all your future goals. God bless
  17. :) Yes, you will be happy with the LPN class at Hinds. Do you think you will go on for RN? I was thinking about that after I complete the surgical tech program. Not sure yet, I kind of wouldn't mind getting into diagnostic medical sonography. Guess I will just have to take it one step at a time though. Anyway best wishes at your career goals. Keep me posted how it goes. Maybe, who knows, I might luck up at Hinds one day. God bless
  18. Hi Lindsey, glad to hear you will be starting the LPN program this January. I was also trying to get in the LPN at Hinds CC, but the wait list is long. I did not want to wait, so I will be doing a Surgical Tech prgram this January at another college. then try to get in nursing school from there. Hinds has a great nursing program. You will be glad you chose Hinds. Wish I had been as lucky as you are to be in already. I am wondering did you have a long wait before your name came up. Good luck and God bless.
  19. Ahhh, the joys of nursing, whoever said life was always fair: CNAs sitting on their carcasses? Not where I am from. Live, Love, Be happy, a job is a job, is a job............AND somebody has to do it, so WHY not you?
  20. Thanks Sarah, does seem logical to be completely covered in cases that are really messy in the OR. So does that mean scrub techs wear only scrub pants outside the sterile OR? Is it mainly required for restricted areas or unrestricted areas also. Thanks again. I wll also check with my facility
  21. latelanie posted a topic in Operating Room
Hi everyone, I have a question that I hope someone can give me a little insite on; I will be starting the surgical tech program this January, and am wondering what is the standard attire for OR scrub techs? I understand the steril part, gown, gloves, caps and so forth, but I am wondering are skirts or skorks permitted are worn in the OR. If someone can give me a little knowledge about this or can direct me to any information it will be greatly appreciated. I am new here and I only see OR techs in pants scrubs where I am from. Thanks a lot.
