  1. Really Congrats:yeah:...How expensive is that school ? kinda curious...I have thought about going there
  2. I live in the Fort Luaderdale area...Im not a nurse yet but I would not recommend public transportation its way too much hastle....I know that Memorial Regional in Hollywood and Pembroke Pine is a really nice hospital. I have heard nothing but good thing about them. They are also a teaching hospital and those hospitals are in good area. One is close to the beach and the other is close to some of the nicest part of western florida. What you can do is search for the hospital address and get the zip code, then go to apartmentguide.com and search by zip code and how far you want to live from that hospital so you can get an idea of price range for rent or maybe houses...Hope that helps.
  3. or....which hospital would you recommend i apply to ?
  4. wow...thats alot of helpful information...let me ask (and its ok if you dont feel comfortable answering)..i see you mention "my hospital" alot...which hospital are you refering to....that could help alot...i have been looking at memorial regional they seem to be hiring constantly for pct/pca/cna
  5. Where is Broward at the Center for Career Training located...sounds good
  6. awww...so sad...I want to work in NICU when I graduate I hope I can hold it together
  7. awww thats so sad, but I understand...these Patients are in a better place free from the pain
  8. LOL thats intresting but I guess after seeing so many deaths its nothing after a while
  9. hey guys, im kind of curious...how did you handle your first patient dieing...im a student nurse and im kinda worried about how i would act to my first death :uhoh21:....i think i will probally start crying so i wanted to ask my wonderful nurses out there how did you handle it ? what was your experience ?
  10. Hey does anyone have info on City College nursing program in Fort Luaderdale ?
  11. Hey Miwila, thanks for your resonse at first I was thinking about doing that the cost for PCT programs are too expensive so I have to take one class at a time for example the CNA program is around $300 so between that time I can save and [ay for the phlebotomy class and then the EKG...Basically I have to break the cost up and I find that you finish faster...sounds crazy but I need to start working in the hospital ASAP im itching to get in ans start doing something....ANYTHING LOL!!! I think it would also be a great experience for nursing school...im guessing
  12. yeah I looked into them...and they dont work for me either
  13. Hey does anyone know if broward community college have a nursing assistant course....does anyone know any schools that offer CNA training ?
  14. Hey guys I am a pre-nursing student thinking about doing the CNA while in school but I dont have the money and time for training..I went to Barnes and Noble and they had a book for Nursing Assistant and I was wondering if its possible to just take the exam and see if I pass...has anyone done this before ?
  15. Hey im in the same situation, I was hoping you could share the answer to your question please
  16. OMG!!! I saw that to!!!! I have had my share of repeats :) lol...the amount of classes I have withdraw from and repeat I wouldnt be qualified....I had to retake English 2x and Anatomy once....so I probally wont make it, but im still gonna try I have heard that they are much easier to get into as long as you have the classes and minimum requirement then your good....I have also heard from a former Nova student that Nova is really not that competitive has they seem...think about it they are a very expensive private school so they are not getting as much applicants as most public university same for UM....Nova wants qualified students but they are not that focus on GPA because you can be a 4.0 student but doesnt really have the nursing drive...and thats what the interview is for to see if youre really passionate about nursing and to see if youre willing to put your all in the school work... so if you can go through the interview with confidents and showing how much you want this then you will be fine I know people who got in with 3.0 GPA because they shine in the interview.... so with that said Nova is my first choice (My First Baby :) lol)
  17. I am looking at other schools...I havent been calling around yet cause I im still finishing up my pre-reqs but Nova is the main one I have my eyes there is no entrance test just a very stressful interview and the first semester is this Advance anatomy and physiology class I feel that class will see who has what it takes...I heard its really hard.
  18. Thanks Bumblebee you always give very good response...youre so cool :yeah:but I have one more question....do these hospital hire CNAs with no experience...Im planning doing the CNA course and get my phlebotomyand EKG certificate...what do think of that is it a waste of time ?
  19. Hey I am a pre-nurisng student looking into becomming a CNA to get my feet wet in the nursing field. I wanted to know what are the CNA's duties in the hospital ? would you recommend being a CNA ? Is being a CNA geat learing experience or a waste of time ? RNs please help me out with your wise suggestions, advice or comments please
  20. i am so worried i had to repeat a few of my pre-req class but now im scared that even though i retook them for a better gade i still wont get into the nursing program here is the situation my school allows you to retake classes up to 3x the 3rd time u pay out-of state tuition the classes required to apply to the nursing program are : english1 ,anatomy and physiology i/ii with lab,and chemistry....these are my grades class 1st attempt 2nd attempt 3rd attempt englis 1 withdrawl d b anatomy 1 d w aanatomy 1 lab d chemistry d a those are the classes i took so far...what do think... would have a chance if i continue and get good grades without repeats or am i doomed ?
  21. Hey guys have anyone applied,OR went to UM that could possible give me some information on the entrance requirements and procedures....like GPA,Entrance test,interview,etc...and I heard that you cant repeat any of your pre-req course..is that true ?
  22. Hey Bubblebee, I just wanted to know if you work in a hospital or a LTC and does the CNA do, what are thier duties and last would u recommend this for a student, is it worth it or just stick to my little day job :) thanks
