well...new grads, like us, will get our time someday... we just have to get enough experience to become better nurses and our time to shine will come... (*and wouldn't you think nursing school is enough experience already?!? all those sleepless nights, early morning clinicals, stress over tests...and don't forget about the NCLEX!) hehe just a thought... :heartbeat

Hey Shegal, clinic is a good place to start. i've been working in a multi-specialty ambulatory clinic for 2 yrs now (i started as an LVN) and now am an RN...i work in internal medicine...i love it...it may not give you the experience that you need to work in a hospital...but it surely pays the bills. benefits are good (*hint hint: paid holidays!, weekends off!) you might also want to try LTC/SNF/Rehab... today was the very first day of my official job hunting... i started my day at 8:30 am, i had a list of facilities (of which all were ltcs/snfs) to go to so... i asked for an application for each one and filled it out right on the spot and then turned it in right away...for my very first one, i was lucky 'cuz the don was there and she interviewed me...so the interview ended and i was told that she will just call me by this week and let me know...so i went on to the next one on the list...i went to total of 5 facilities... i finished at about 1 pm (some of the applications were really long...my hand kind of hurts from writing...)anyway, a couple of hours after i got home, i got a call...it was from the first snf i went to...they want me to come in for an orientation already! wow! (*i was thinking, they could've just hired me right on the spot...hehe!) well, i'm kind of excited about this job...this is something new for me...i worked in an assisted living but i never worked in a snf/rehab before... so... yeah ...but on the other hand...i would really really want to work in a hospital setting!...but like what i said before...a hospital job is very hard to get if you're a new grad... :cry:well, that is based on my personal experience, it may be different from others... so...now am thinking if i want to work in a hospital later on...would they count snf/ltc/rehab as rn experience? i know some hospitals want acute care experience and then again how can we new grads get acute care experience if they don't hire us?!? :banghead:urghh!!! so should i take this job?? thank you all for your time

i, too, wants to work in L&D, i did my preceptorship in that dept but unfortunately, they were not hiring at the time...and to make matter worst...I AM A NEW GRAD! i just got passed my boards a week ago. being a new RN is hard

after 2 long, torturous, agonizing, nervewreckin (words can't even describe it) weeks...i just found out this morning that... i passed! what a relief!!! i swear i had a headache for the last 2 weeks and after i saw my name on the website...it just miraculously disappeared!!! it feels so good! thanks everyone for all your support!:heartbeat

to be honest with you...the test might be hard but waiting for the results is even harder!!! my advice is not to think too much about the test afterwards (which i know is the hardest thing to do!) and just try to relax and do something fun! GOOD LUCK!!! :)

i just got off the phone with one of the BRN staff, who was very nice by the way, and he told me that he has not received my transcripts yet!!! how come they received my friend's transcripts but not mine? our school sent them at the same time...does the board assigns reviewer by applicants' last names? cuz my friend's last name starts with a "T" and mine with a "G". or does this mean i failed? and he knows it but does not want to give any hint that i failed so he is just saying that they don't have my transcripts to make me believe that that is the reason why my name is not on the website??? and then i get the "letter" in the mail??? oh gosh!! so much running through my mind right now!!! HELP!
