  1. The way you explained labs sounds alot like ours, but to be honest with you I got more out of labs than I did lecture. Dissecting all those pigs and using the microscope was interesting and I learned a lot. I think that one reason those instructors try to do the experiments is to help you understand the concept behind it. We did more of the anatomical learning in labs and saved the physiology learning for lecture. :)
  2. Just finished my A&P!!! A's in both classes!! Loved it, but so glad its over!!
  3. Thats way different than my school. We have fundamentals and pharmacology the first semester and mental health the fourth semester. And we only have 2 attempts in the nursing field, period. The school said that if a student couldn't pass the second time around that they wouldn't want that student caring for them. Have you looked at the schools policy against attempts?? We are only allowed 2 attempts in nursing and one more in another health science field. You may need to go speak with an academic advisor because they might not let you try a third time. Good Luck!!
  4. When I was in my A&P this mnemonic helped me with learning about leukocytes (white blood cells): Never= N stands for neutrophil Let= L stands for lymphocyte Monkeys= M stands for monocyte Eat= E stands for eosinophil Bananas= B stands for basophil Hope this helps you whenever you have to learn about the blood and all of its components!!:) By the way, this one and alot more others was in my A&P textbook, so you might have some in yours also.
  5. When nursing students start their clinicals do you know what to do?? Do your instuctor or nurse tell you what needs to be done, or do they just tell you to go for it?? What kind of task to they have you to perform?? Are they supervised or assisted??
  6. I go to a 2 year technical college and I just finished my a&p courses. We didn't use cadavers, but we did use fetal pigs and sheep organs for dissections. It is not bad other than the stench of formaldehyde. One of the larger universities in the state does use cadavers.
