I feel you. I hate the customer service mentality the most. I hate trying to smile when you're already so exhausted.

I have been working as a nurse for 7 years now. Tried OB GYN, NICU, trauma and orthopedics, and OR. I have worked with crappy managers and really great ones. Our hospital is quite generous with annual leaves and my current manager is very accommodating with shift requests and days off. However, I still hate nursing. I hate the job itself. I tell my husband everyday and he offered me support to study another degree but I am lost as to what I really want to do that will generate equal of more income as a nurse. Plus, another 3-4 years of studying? I'm not really keen on that. I considered working from home from insurance companies but that doesn't fit me well either. I want something that allows for creativity while having flexible time and that doesn't involve you dealing with a lot of people.

Hi, Whitney Yes. It usually takes CTN a while to reply to e-mails. The length of time varies depending on your inquiry. From my experience, if I have a question regarding my application status, it takes them a few days to a week. The whole process of applying is quite tedious and mostly depends on how fast and accurately you process your requirements. I was really careful with my documents because any mistake might lead to a few months delay. Good luck on your application! :)

Hi there. I have been working with CTN as well. I just mailed my first pack to the NMC today. I have been reading all the comments in this thread and i have a growing concern about the accommodations and the ONP. Can anyone tell me whether they have paid for this program or if it was shouldered by CTN? How about the housing? We were made to understand during the orientation that we will be entitlted to the subsidized house while undergoing the supervised training and that we will also be given allowances. Any info on this one will be much appreciated. Thank you.

I just came in for my evening shift yesterday, and I was assigned to monitor a patient for her constantly increased BP. I checked her chart for her medications and I noticed that her physician prescribed Nifedipine and Amlodipine separately. I was curious about the prescription because aren't both drugs calcium channel blockers? they both relax the artery thus lowering BP. I don't get why the doctor prescribed them separately. can anyone enlighten me?

Hello, I am Joanna, a registered nurse here in the Philippines. I am interested in applying for a nursing job in Canada, but I don't know exactly what to do first. I read a lot about having to take an English proficiency test, and being registered in the specific province where I want to work. My concern is that, I currently do not have an employer yet and I don't know how long it will take before I will have a confirmed employer. If I take the IELTS exam (English proficiency test) it will expire in about two years and I may have to retake it again, which is costly on my part. I am also concerned about the licensure exam for Canada, which is different for each province. So if for example I took the exam for British Columbia, and I was not able to find an employer there, do I have to retake the exam for another province? I hope you could help me out. Thank you.
