Hey, there are so many options for you!!!! I am a flight paramedic, and I hit a cap on my carreer so I am going to nursing school so I can furthur my education. In the future I can teach, go to a specialty (NP, Nurse anesthesia etc..) I think everyone has to put in their time, and I know that noone LIKES To play in other peoples' blood and vomit. Another option for you is to fly....Once you get your time in, flying has all offline progressive protocols depending on where you work. My partner on the helicopter is a nurse and we are trained equally. She can intubate, put in chest tubes, doesn't have to ask for orders for ANY medication and there are 74 medications on our drug box. This is a great opportunity, and every partner I have had (which are all nurses) say the best part is the liberal protocols and not having a doctor looking over your shoulder all the time. There are options...hand in there. If you are that depressed, though, change carreers! There is no need to be miserable. A job is only a little portion of who you are, and if it takes everything from you, its not worth it. I hope everythign works out for you!!!
