Worried my Ultrascope is too "cute"
I work on an IMC/Tele floor and have an ultrascope. Mine's lime green tubing with a multicolour design. I've never had anyone make any comments about it, honestly. Occasionally I have a patient comment that it brightened their day, or that it was "cheerful"/unique, but I"ve never had a comment that it was unprofessional. Also, I've noticed that they're gaining in popularity, and a LOT of the RTs at my hospital have them. Also, everyone on the floor knows it's mine if I accidentally set it down somewhere because it's not a generic littmann :-P, and that is a definite perk of having a more customizable stethoscope.

washing nursing shoes and/or crocs?
Dishwasher... hmm Sounds like a good idea for your kids' shoes...I hadn't thought of that. I do think I'd be a bit uneasy washing the shoes I wear through isolation rooms with the stuff my family and I eat out of... Just a thought. ;-)

washing nursing shoes and/or crocs?
You can clean crocs with a bleach/water mix. That'll kill most anything on them, just make sure the room's well ventilated ;-) If you work in a hospital, the wipes you (might) use to wipe down monitors and other equipment you use for multiple patients work well to clean crocs too

CNA test at St John's?
I have a job interview for a tech position at St John's in Springfield. When they called to ask me to come in for an interview they said I had to stop by human resources and take a test before I could be considered for the position. I was wondering if anyone had taken it and could tell me what to expect? I really need the job and I'm kind of anxious about this whole test thing...

CNA in an ER? vs ER tech
What would a cna do in the ER? I mean I figure it would probably be the general vitals and things like that but how would a job as a cna in the er be different than say...on a med-surg floor or something else? Also, what would be the difference in job description (generally) between a cna in an er and an er tech? Is it possible to get a job as an ER tech with a CNA, or would I need an EMT? Thanks
