Terrible test anxiety!
Hey There! I know your pain. I am also on head meds for anxiety and depression. I had to have the meds readjusted and another one added. The shrink added Zyprexa 5mg./day. This has helped alot. The head of the LPN program said she could tell the difference, and believe me she makes me nervous just being in her office. I still feel anxiety at test time, but my mind doesn't go blank, and the last skills test my hands stayed steady. It also helps to have a nice instructor, but thats always luck of the draw! My meds are Depakote 750mg/day, wellbutrin 300mg/day, and the Zyprexa. I hope something helps you. I felt awful thinking I was too crazy for nursing! good luck:uhoh3:

Anyone Failed 1st year 1st semester in nursing school(RN)
hi Preciousdread, I withdrew from my 1'st semester of the RN program. I cried for a week. I over thought the written exams, although I managed to pass them. My test anxiety came up more when I had to perform skills tests. My hands shook, and during the BP demonstration my teeth were chattering. I was so nervous I forgot to put my stethescope in my ears. Strangely that was the one I passed! After failing setting up a sterile field the 1'st time (everything seemed to go wrong),I sat in my car and cried. I called my doctor and told him what happened, and he gave me a prescription of Inderal,a BP medication wich has a beta blocker that helps with anxiety. It was non-sedating,and I passed the test the second time. The second instructor was really nice, wich helped more than anything, but you can't rely on that. On my 3'rd acute care clinical day I failed. I have tried to learn from my mistakes, and I have been accepted into the LPN program this year. You are not alone. Don't give up. It's all a learning experience!

Who is starting LPN in August?
blueangel2:uhoh21: Is something wrong with this picture? I am starting the LPN program at CCBC in Dundalk MD Sept.2. At orientation we were told only 18 out of 38 students graduated last year. Is this unusual or the norm? The statistics made me nervous. Maybe hard work is not enough. I failed a clinical day in the RN program last year and I withdrew, because if you fail 2 you fail the semester and your out of the program. I am trying to learn frm my mistakes, but one of the tutors last year told us the program is designed to eliminate.I am not ready to give up.Anyone with simular stories or advise?
