just wanted to say hi to everyone in my class! may is going to be upon us before we know it!!!! i am headed to philly to look at apartments this weekend! where r u guys in the moving process? i cant wait to meet everyone!

ok...the experience thing...myself...i needed a good 3 years to be ready. i ended up with 5 though because although 3 was enough for me clinically...i just was not ready for school then. i also worked in every specialty there is aside from burn...so for you? YOU are the one who knows where you stand clinically and academically. if you wanna go, then go! maybe some crna's should have had more experience but i also know some superstars that were amazing with a year or 2. but that is just my opinion. you could always call or email the program and just ask if they think you are a competitve applicant too

haha...u dont have to worry...that was for another school(laroche)! i did three interviews and was accepted everywhere..each was unique...the upenn interview was by far the shortest...maria and russ are relaxed and easy to talk to....where r u from?

lol....care to contribute to my tuition fund? jk...i am sure u will be fine...there will certainly be those who decide on another school.

thanks for ur input cotrauma rn. i did my undergrad in the burgh and currently work at upmc(but only for this last 4 months) i lived in san diego for 3 years and then philly and baltimore too...and i actually came back to pitts thinking that i would end up at pitt...but after returning nearly 5 years later...i find that i cannot wait to leave pittsburg again! i know that i will move away after school if i do stay here for now...so that is something that i am considering too....its hard to say if hup or shock trauma would prefer a grad or upenn or pitt...or have no preference at all...and the saga continues....

i was accepted full time for 09 as well...it is indeed an impressive school...i am still not sure if i want to go to pitt or upenn though....sigh....i know a lot of people in the program and they do like it...its ranked highly...but that doesnt mean much to me...i think that you just have to evaluate if the program is a good "fit" for you!

hey everyone...it says online that classes start on the 20th or so....but when do we actually need to be there? i was thinking may 1st should be ok? anyone know anything about this? thanks!

there will be a second wave of interviews in march i think....you do not have to turn in anything until the 5th but it clearly states on the website that admission is competitive and early application is encouraged. i had everything in by august...so i assume that if you interviewed in december and they want you, then they are not going to wait for everyone else to offer it to you.....but that is just me guessing if course. i interviewed and was accepted all the way back in june to upenn....pitt seems to drag their feet quite a bit...i was told over 3 weeks ago by the director that i would get an acceptance letter and that i could start taking classes but i have yet to get that letter.....

i have a friend who was in my group and still has not heard....i would not be able to wait if i were you...i dont see why you cant call them and just ask in a very nice and professional manner what ur status is? r u from around the burgh?

interview dec9th and got a phone call 1 week later from program director offering me a spot in the program....why?

thanks for your input to both jfk and gasmask...u both make very valid and true points! ur a def right about philly bring fun gas...i did a contract there and loved it..i did my undergrad in pitts and it is cheaper....but no where near as awsome and philly! and yes...pitt is ranked 5th in the nation...but not everyone is aware of this and i am not sure if a ranking means everything or not...upenn does have a lot to offer in teams of resources and connections....sigh...see this is how i got into this debate in the first place! lol

we like night shift because there is not so much personal drama, we do our jobs and have a great night shift team. sleep is hard but you get use to it. so leave the daylight drama to the daylight drama queens

hey rncg03...i got your PM . thanks so much for replying to me. i still do not have enough posts i think to PM you back but i do have many questions about the program. i was actually told initially by financial aid when i applied that the cost of the program was 70,000...then when i was admitted...they told me it was 100,000....and now i find out from a real student that its actually 120,000? wow....i wish it was trending the other way!

i think i posted my stats on here someplace but i will of course share them with you as i appreciated accepted students sharing with me when i was researching! first of all..you have way more expertise that i do! lol. i have >4 years experience with 5 by the start of school. majority has been cticu with vads and tx but i have also worked in trauma, ccu and dabbled in micu as well. i am ccrn-csc and tncc certified. my gpa is nothin special at 3.46(but i think acing all my math and sciences helped my cause) ...i tended to get C's in classes like religion and child psy! oh..and 1300 GRE with a verbal 600 and 700 quan 4.5 analytical. i think that its good to keep the ICU fresh...i do not think that it should work against you because you already far exceed the min requirements for clinical experience.

beedog13...did everyone who got a score that high get this scholarship? i may have to look into that school!

hey ccrn-csc-cmc...may i ask where it is that a hospital will do all that for just 5 years of my time???? i wanna check that out!

to any of the students that are currently attending the upenn program...how was the financial aid process? did penn give you any grants or did you have to borrow the entire 50,000 plus cost of living loans? also...has anyone offered you living stipends or support thus far? thanks!
