Barry University CRNA Starting January 2014 c/o 2016
No i don't remember. I wouldn't worry about it unless they bring it up in your interview or acceptance letter. They wouldn't invite you to interview if it was too low

Some high percentage of ppl in my class (like 80%) had ccrn. I only had one year icu experience though i know they asked ppl with more experience to take it too. You can be accepted under the contingency that you pass the exam. They have some ppl retake the gre until they get a certain score on the section. For example, my friend was accepted with contingency that she improved her verbal score.. had to take the gre 3 times to get the verbal score they wanted

It does not Matter where you pick for clinical site. You just might not get your top clinical site choice if accepted and ppl who interviewed before you and were accepted chose there first.

Orlando and Hollywood take 20 to 30. Tampa and West Palm take less, about 6 people. Ocala takes about 3. At least that is what they did for my class but those are about the sizes every year

Barry University CRNA Starting January 2014 c/o 2016
snipes..I received an interview invite for the June session last year, but had to postpone it to their July session. I would think they would look at all the apps they received by the deadline, rank them, interview their top choices, and then go on from there. They interview until the class is full, so it just depends on when that is..could be as late as Oct, maybe even later. I am not sure how late they were interviewing for my class. They would not be calling people now for interviews that late though, they just call about 20 people or so for the next month, then after that interview and they have the date set for the next they invite the next batch. gatornurse, PM me if you have questions about the program, we are super busy this semester so can't guarantee an answer right away

Barry University CRNA Starting January 2014 c/o 2016
when I interviewed last year I believe they told us they had about 400 applicants. I do not really know how many people they actually interviewed but I would think it would only be about 25 percent. We started out with 64 people in my class.

Coloradogirl....ccrn isnt required. I think they decide if they want you to take it based on how you do on the test and your experience. They asked me a few clinical questions and since i told them we rarely use swans and hemodynamic monitoring on my unit unless they are a liver patient then i think that is why they decided i should take it. I don't really mind though. it's just going to make me a better nurse by studying for it and i would much rather study/take ccrn instead of having to retake the gre! (which i have heard they require of some ppl too)

I just got the info yesterday. For fall classes are Mon from 8-2 (or maybe it was 230). And tues from 8-6 (!! Long day). You have to buy the books through the school as a package which i don't like..$1800 for that.

I'm not sure what was worse...waiting to interview or waiting to hear if accepted! They just told me today I have to get my ccrn certification though! Guess I'll be studying for that along with taking the 2 head start classes. marthagp, I do believe they have a session in august..they will interview until full. You should call/email and ask..they are very helpful and quick to respond.

Rn_es, which one were you at the interview? Trying to put names with faces. On a side note, received a letter from the school dated july 9 that my app was complete and sent to be reviewed, lmao. It made me laugh considering i received my acceptance letter the same day

marthagp, you won't hear anything from them until your application is complete. I would recommend taking your gre and getting those scores submitted ASAP. They have already had several rounds of interviews and I'm sure they are getting close to being full. Ceh511...I will ask when I interview on monday when we will find out the clinical sites. I am planning on choosing ocala (anyone else pick there or does anyone recall hearing of anyone there choosing that site? I know they are limited there and was wondering if it is already full). My lease is up Aug 23 and I need to know if I should extend it a few months or plan on relocating so I hope they will tell me :)

Wollford College
I'm not sure why so many people bash a school they don't even go to. I don't go there, but have gained acceptance to the program as well as a few others. Gooding is not regionally accredited...why don't people bash that program?! I am beginning to think it is just the disgruntled students that couldn't make it through the program that seem to bash it because all the students I have spoken to have had nothing but positive things to say. I was very impressed with the program when I went to interview there, more so then with a few of the other places I have been to. Several CRNAs that I have spoken to have all had nothing but positive things to say about the wolford grads they have come across as well. In fact, I know of a wolford grad that was hired by my hospital, which is practically unheard of considering my hospital has their own program to hire people from!!!! Bottom line is, they have a very high board passing rate, the students all find jobs upon graduation, and from what I have learned in my research they are just as competent as any other graduate from the other florida programs. It seems all the other programs that every boasts about being regionally accredited received it because they are associated with a university that is already regionally accredited, not because their program got it specifically! It will be interesting to see how this lawsuit plays out, but there is just as much drama like this at plenty of other schools (Ex: fl hosp firing their director, rumors of students suing the school, etc)

I think it is really only us 3 posting on this thread :) Did you hear of anyone else who got in? I didn't know anyone else there. Maybe the class above us will send out an email with everyones info on it so we can see who our potential classmates will be!

Anyone have the syllabus to the head start classes? Curious to take a look at them. do you just watch the online lectures at your own pace or are there actual days where you have to go for the classes?
-
Any applicants to Florida Gulf Coast University?
Yeah, he told me they tried that method last year and it worked pretty well. He said they try and meet after the interviews to discuss it and then let you know before you leave so you aren't left wondering. I'm thinking it would be during the tour/talking to the current students. If they have 30 ppl though they may decide to not do that I would think. I'm excited to meet you guys/potential classmates!

Any applicants to Florida Gulf Coast University?
dang, so 50/50 chance. I was hoping it was more like an old post I saw where they interview like 18 for about 15 spots :) They did tell me that they try and let you know before you leave if you are in or not. Though not sure if I would want them to tell me I am not in and then have to drive 2.5-3 hours, lol!

I just got the call so I will see you there! Do you know how many are interviewing/how many they accept? I was going to ask but i'm at work and someone walked into the break room right when I was about to ask. Didn't want them to question me who I was talking to!
