UCLA-new grad super user
My application status still says "Application for Future consideration". Not sure if that's good or bad, but would really like for this opportunity to pan out. Congrats on getting the position!

Hi everyone. Does anyone know if they are still hiring for this position? I just applied to it today. Looks like they have hired lots of you already. Congrats to all. Any info on the status of this job would be appreciated. Thanks!

TEAS, what to expect?
I took the TEAS test last year and used the ATI Pre-Test Study Manual. I did very well on it and I only used this book. The test is just like the study guide. I actually just came across it and if anyone is interested in buying it, I would be more than happy to sell it to you for half of what I paid for it. There is just a small amount of penciled in writing, but not too much. I paid 46.00 for it. Let me know if you are interested in it.

Johns Hopkins BSN/MSN 2009 Applicants!
I have heard from a couple of people that there are a lot of type A personalities, but I don't know that that necessarily means that people aren't helpful. I have also heard that overall, the students at the SON are all pretty cool (from a student who just finished her first semester). I am definitely not type a, but I am competitive with myself and always want to do the best, but I also enjoy studying with other people and helping each other out. I don't know much about Jefferson, but I am sure that you will find a good balance of people at any school.

Johns Hopkins/JHU Early Decision?
Ha ha...I never thought of it like that. I was actually just talking with my parents about how unsafe baltimore is. I don't think they would appreciate that rationalization though. Works for me. I am also trying to figure out what to bring, what to leave, and how I am going to get there. It seems hard to know what to bring until you know where you will be living. I am hoping to go to accepted students day and check out the area. I also have a friend who lives in Baltimore who I will be seeing on Tuesday. I am going to pick her brain about what she thinks. Her boyfriend is in a PhD program at Hopkins, so hopefully she has some good insight. I will post anything that may be useful to everyone. Sara

Johns Hopkins/JHU Early Decision?
I am in the traditional BSN program as well. Are you all going to go to accepted students day? I am also going to have to figure out how to pay for it. :)

Los Angeles County School of Nursing
I just got accepted to County's nursing program and I have to tell them by Friday whether or not I am going to attend. I was really interested in attending until I found out that they are not accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE. This could present a problem when applying to BSN/Graduate problems. Can anyone speak to this issue? Thanks a lot in advance for any info.

Hopkins...Who Else is Applying?
Has anyone heard yet? I know that some of the BSN/MSN applicants have heard and am getting really nervous...

LA County Nursing School acceptance letters
I am not positive about where they do all their clinicals, but I do know that UCLA, St. Johns and Childrens Hospital are included. I am not sure that they go to county though. Initially that was also why I wanted to go to county. I thought it would be a fantastic experience. I am hesitant to go there because of the accreditation issue though. Are you planning on going on for a BSN or a Masters? If so, I would call some schools that you think you may want to go to later and ask them if they require a NLNAC or CCNE accredidted AA program. Happy Thanksgiving!

Alternate@CSULB
I did not apply to any other cal state schools. The reason that I am not going to CSULB is because the chemistry class that I took did not meet their requirement and I couldn't find another one to take in the Fall semester. I applied to Hopkins and am hoping that I get in there. Otherwise, I will be taking another chem class and applying to CSULB and maybe some other cal state schools for fall semester. Happy Thanksgiving to you too! I am trying today to be thankful for all the opportunities that I do have and not stress so much about nursing school...at least for today. :)

Alternate@CSULB
I also got in to the nursing program at CSULB and will not be attending this spring. So that is another spot that will be available for an alternate. Good luck.

LA County Nursing School acceptance letters
I also think that SMC has a better pass rate on the NCLEX than LA County does. Might also be something to look into.

LA County Nursing School acceptance letters
I applied to LA County Nursing School as well and haven't received a letter yet. I don't think that I am going to attend there if I do get in because they are not accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE. This could be a problem when applying to graduate programs. If it were me, I would go to SMC.

Hopkins...Who Else is Applying?
Do you know when we should be expecting the call for notification for Early Decision? Do you think it will be before the Dec. 15 date that they gave? I know it is much to early to get anxious, but I am!
-
Hopkins...Who Else is Applying?
Yes, the wait is excruciating! Every time I get a phone call from a number that I don't recognize, I think it may be Hopkins calling with good news. I know it is too early for that, but I still get nervous. Like I said before, I don't know that I am a very competitive applicant, so I won't be shocked if I don't get in. I have applied to a couple other CA schools. I don't really want to stay in CA, so I may apply other places once if I don't get in. I am holding off on other applications until I hear. What other schools are you looking at?

Hopkins...Who Else is Applying?
I applied to Hopkins for Early Decision also. I am so nervous. I applied for the traditional BSN program. I am so nervous. It may be a long shot for me, but I am keeping my fingers crossed. I haven't applied anywhere else. Good luck to everyone. Can't wait to check back in December to see who got in. :)

brother is taking TEAS test soon...please help for those who took it recently =)
I took the TEAS in August. You are pretty much right about what is on the exam. Lots of ratios, addition, subtraction, division, lots of adding and subtracting fractions. I thought that the Science section was the strangest part of the exam. It was like middle school science. If your brother has already taken anatomy and physiology, the human body science will be super easy. Out of all the sections, my worst was the science section. I had initially printed the questions from that website, but decided to buy the study guide from ATI. It is a little expensive, but in the end I am happy that I did it. It is the best example of what the test will be like. I just studied from that book right a week before the exam, and then a couple days before, and I was very happy with my score. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck to your brother! Sara

Anyone Enrolled at Robert Ross (IUON) International University of Nursing
I also was supposed to attend in September, but deferred until Jan 2009. I am still not sure if I am going. It sounds good, but I have read so many things here, that I am hesitant to go. I am waiting to hear from a couple local schools and then I will make my decision. Has anyone talked directly to anyone who has attended?

Info on L.A. County College of Nursing & Allied Health
Hi there. I applied to this school for Spring 2009. I have not heard whether I am in or not, but I was looking into the accreditation of this school and they are not accredited by NLNAC. I would really like to attend, as I have heard great things about this program, but the lack of accreditation scares me a bit in terms of my opportunities for graduate study. I understand that it is approved by the state of CA. Does that mean that I won't be able to work in any other state? Also, does that mean that I won't be able to get an advanced practice degree? Any clarification on this would be great. Thanks

IUON Graduates?
ccc2008, did you decided to go to IUON? I just got accepted and I am debating whether or not to attend. What made your decision either way? I would love to hear about the information that you collected. There are so many mixed feelings about it, that it has left me more confused than I was before

degree from iuon?
I have also been doing some research on this in the last few days. I am very torn as to whether I should go or not. I just applied, so I don't even know if I will get in. I applied to the BSN program and they do the BSN through Colorado State University and through a university in Puerto Rico. I have no hesitation about the CSU since they are pretty well known for their health science department, but I wonder if going to Puerto Rico would be given the same weight in getting a job and applying to graduate programs in the future. I actually also called UCLA to talk to the admissions office there to see if attending IUON and the US affiliate would be acceptable to apply to the advance practice nursing program. They said it would be especially if I got a degree from Colorado State. I don't know...there is still something that makes me hesitant. Thanks for all the information that everyone has provided. I am going to go ahead with the application process and make a decision if I get in. At the moment I don't have any other options, which make this option more appealing.

degree from iuon?
For some reason I am unable to private message. Is there any way that you can give me some basic info over the forum. I understand that you probably don't want to say too much, but until i figure out this private posting thing, I would appreciate some info. Thanks.

degree from iuon?
Hi everyone, I am thinking about applying to IUON, and was hoping that I could get some feedback on what your experiences were like at both the St. Kitts campus as well as the US affiliates. Any and all comments are welcome as I hope to make a good choice in the school that I attend. Thanks!
