  1. I will be starting at MCC this August too. I'm enrolled in the ASU concurrent program so I will be taking a class online this summer. I was glad we got the schedule so soon! I live in North Phoenix so I need to plot out my driving schedule. I just got my CPR card last week and finished vaccinations (still need to finish 2nd dose if Hep tho). The nurse talked me into getting an MMR instead of starting out with titer. I'm excited and a little nervous about starting in the fall but I'm sure I'm not alone. I have zero experience in healthcare so it will all be new to me. I'm ready to jump in though!
  2. I was surprised to read that only 12 students accepted the ASU CEP. Maybe it is because of tuition or the fact they aren't offering Boswell anymore. Mesa is definitely a farther drive for me but I can't turn down a program right now, I've waited too long. I'll just record the lectures and listen to them on the drive in and out :)
  3. I know, it's so exciting to finally get into a program after waiting so long, but now that the initial thrill of that has worn off....OMG....it's a little scary and daunting. I have so much going on in my personal life right now that I pray I will be able to put enough study time in to do well. This is so important to me, I've GOT to make it work!
  4. I received an email yesterday advising I got in! I was thrilled to say the least (been on the waitlist for almost 2 years). I had put in for the Boswell location, but the letter stated they are no longer accepting new students. Not sure if they just filled up the spots by the time they got to me but I was a little disappointed since I live a lot closer to that campus. My divorce is almost final and I have to move anyway so I guess this is a sign that I should move closer to Mesa. I was looking for a fresh start anyway:) Anyone else get in?
  5. Thank you so much for the feedback! The same instructor is teaching it in the fall as well. I am taking BIO 202 as well in the fall but I took BIO 201 and BIO 205 last semester and did well, it was challenging to say the least:)
  6. How did you like this class? I may take it in the fall at PVCC or online...still on the fence.
  7. well, now I found a class at PV that might work in my schedule...uuggghh...I'm being wishy-washy about this. I may take it there then go to GCC for A&P and take the PHI class online. I can't find anything about the instructor for this HCR class at PV online and that could make a difference if she sucks! If anyone wants to send me a private message about this please do so.
  8. Changed my mind again, taking it online at GCC. I am taking it with the instructor the previous poster mentioned. I'm also taking A&P 202 but not online so hopefully I can handle all this. I have a lot of time to study so I feel like I can get through it. I may take philosophy 103 (I need it for Chamberlain school since PHI 101 won't transfer) but I don't know if thar would be too much with the other 2 classes, I can't imagine that class being hard.
  9. Cgolden, I'm in Phoenix, Arizona and the community colleges here offer this class online.
  10. Thanks for the info. I've decided not to take it online and will just work around the class schedule. It's a 40 minute drive to GCC for me but the class is only once a week.
  11. I need to take this course and none of the in person classes are working into my schedule. I'm considering taking it online. I've already taken A&P 1 and got an A (not online). I really felt I could have just read the book and gotten the same grade without the benefit of the in person lecture. Anyone have feedback on taking this course online? I'm taking A&P 2 at GCC this fall and was thinking of taking the path online during the same time. I took bio 201 and 205 this spring and did well (it was hard though!). Thanks for any input!
  12. Thanks,TheRussian, for the info! I'm not freaking out as much now:) I've also heard it's important to study up on conversions so I'm doing that as well.
  13. I plan on taking the Hesi exam tomorrow and have the HESI A Secrets book as a study guide. It has chem, bio and A&P info in it as well but from what I read on the MCCDNP website you only need 75% on math and reading. It doesn't mention anything about the other subjects. Does anyone know if these are the only two subjects I will be tested on? I don't want to waste my time studying on subjects that won't be covered. Thanks!
  14. Thanks for the input. It did mention on the school website that the book "Biology: Concepts and Connections" is what they recommended as a study guide. Anyone looking to sell? I see a few on craigslist so I'll check those out.
  15. I am taking CHM at GCC north and will be taking the waiver exam for bio next week. Any tips on preparing for this waiver? There's gotta be some type of study guide or "cheat sheets", I gotta study up quick:)
  16. Thank you so much for all the great feedback! I'm already confirmed to start CHM130 in August but I just found out that in order for me to take BIO201 I need to take a waiver test since I took BIO in high school and not in college. If I take it without preparing there is no way I will pass so should I try to get a study guide of some sort to prepare to take this waiver or is it in my best interest to take one of the pre-req classes for BIO201 and then take the class? I'm eager to get on the waitling list but I don't want to get in over my head (since I haven't been in school in so long).
  17. I'm excited about finally being able to go back to school full time and I've enrolled in CHM130 and BIO201 but it's been 17 years since I've taken a class so I'm a little nervous about it. Any suggestions on how to prepare for these classes before they actually start? I hated science when I went to college and avoided these two subjects by taking geology and georgraphy. These are the last two I need before I can apply to nursing. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
  18. I've heard the interview is the key, not so much gpa. Is this true? Should I not stress about getting a C in chemistry but focus on being Ms. Personality and not nervous in the interview? Any insight will be helpful. Thank you.
  19. I need CHM 130 and BIO 201 before I can apply to nursing school. It's been a long time since I went to college, I got an AA degree in '92 and even then I avoided these sciences and took Geology and Geography. I'm wondering if I can handle taking it online or not. How much harder is it online? I'm thinking it's going to be tough especially since It's been a while since I've taken a course in anything. Are there a lot of essays in a regular class as well? Should I take the CHM first then BIO? I should have started looking into this a month ago and now it's too late to start a class for the fall semester at GCC so I'm looking online. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
