  1. That's excellent! Congrats and best of luck!!!
  2. Sounds like you are a strong applicant. I did my undergrad at Simmons and they were easy to get into but I'm not sure about how many they are accepting for the nursing program. The school I got into accepted around 50-60 and next year is 70 students. Where did you do your undergrad? If they said you will hear back in Jan then you will. I understand the anxiety you are feeling of not knowing so I can sympathize. Trust me, once you are accepted anxiety will be a way of life :) Good luck
  3. I'm writing a paper on the role of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and I can't find anywhere online if and can they can delegate tasks. So you are saying that they can delegate tasks to just about anyone? such as RNs? What kind of tasks can they actually delegate? Thanks so much!
  4. Does anyone know if a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner can delegate any tasks? Thanks!
  5. I'm a student nurse, but in my classes I'm learning that a nurse with anxiety/depression can be detrimental to the patient and that some of the tell-tale signs are making errors constantly, mood swings, lethargic. Is this true? Can this be prevented? Are there any nurses out there that suffer from this and are able to perform their job well??
  6. I actually got rejected too and have been freaking out because my father is on the fence whether to co-sign...I will find out in a couple of days... And you can't exactly ask everyone you know to co-sign either.
  7. How is everyone doing on filling out their loans?
  8. i know, it's totally confusing and i had to email the person in fin aid office to clear stuff up and i'm *still* not sure im 100% clear! ugh. i'm going to cut and paste what he emailed me. hope you understand! if you do, explain it to me ! lol -erin " you are charged on a semesterly basis. the program is divided into 2 award years (2 semesters each) for financial aid purposes and you should set up any loans for the full award year, which means whatever you set up now should be enough to cover your spring and summer semesters including tuition and fees as well as personal expenses. your charges should be around 11550 for the spring semester once your deposit is taken into account and about11000 for the summer semester. therefore, you should borrow enough to cover whatever amount is not covered by financial aid plus any personal expense amounts you are looking to receive a refund toward. for example, if you are looking for 2000 per semester for personal expenses, add 4000 to the total of the loan. i hope this helps. please let me know if you need any further clarification."
  9. hi! I just got mine in the mail 5 min ago. Trying to see what I need to borrow now. I really hope I don't have a problem with borrowing because I wouldn't be able to come up with a co-signer. I'm confused on how much to take out. I need probably 12-15K extra for living expenses but would they allow that? Ugh. Did anyone else get their letter yet? Erin
  10. I'm real worried about the loan thing because I don't have perfect credit at all and not sure if anyone would be a co-signer for me if I needed one. Trying not to freak out in advance but its hard when you have no idea whats going on. Hopefully it will all work out in the end and we will all meet in Jan!!
  11. I think the Financial Office may have goofed and now are racing to cover up their mistakes. Maybe they will give us an extension on the due date??
  12. Hey! I called him yesterday and he was all disorganized and nervous but said that he would have everyones out by this week or next. One of the girls who is in one of my pre-req classes (I'm still taking one more this semester) is starting at mcphs next year too has already received her package last week. This is ridiculous! It's Nov and our fees are due in mid Dec!!! I'll let you know when I get mine in the mail. ARghhh:madface:
  13. Hi Everyone! Has anyone heard or received ANYTHING about loans/tuition yet?! I'm still waiting for the loan office to reply to my 3 emails!! I just can't wait to start!!! Erin:loveya:
  14. I'm super excited to start too and meet everyone!! That's why I'm so anxious to get all this payment stuff over and done with. I only received the medical forms too. Erin
  15. Sorry! Didn't mean to freak you out. Actually I dont even know where I got the Dec 28 from lol. I've looked at everything mcphs has sent me and don't see dec 28 anywhere so I guess Im imagining things! Don't worry, tons of people are in debt from their undergrad. Ugh. I'm definately in debt too from my not knowing what I wanted to be when I grow up days! Will post something asap if I receive anything from them!
  16. omg I forgot about the stethoscope, scrubs, and all that!! Yikes..I'm going to be in debt for a long time... Have you filled out the Stafford loan stuff yet? Don't we have to have everything paid for by Dec 28?! What's taking soo long!!?
  17. Hi everyone, Has anyone found out any details about fin aid or loans yet? The process is so confusing! Also, I'm doing my budget and how much I want to take out for my expenses at school..does anyone have an idea how much books will be for 4 semesters? Thanks! Erin
  18. Hi everyone, I was wondering if ANYONE is all set with aid/loans to start Jan 09 year? I didn't qualify for some aid and I emailed Lynn at the student aid center regarding getting loans but she never responded. Maybe she's swamped? Can anyone give me any info? I'm getting nervous!! Thanks! Erin
  19. My cousin just graduated and was having a hard time too (she lives 30 min outside of Boston). it's hard for new grads because you guys dont have experience yet which you can only get if they are hiring new grads. Did you look into Beth Israel? I know they have a really good new grad program. She finally landed a job by calling one of her old teachers at a hosptial in Westboro (30 min from Boston) and IMMEDIATELY got the job. So...try to contact places where you did your rotations and see if they are hiring. Sometimes its all about connections. Good luck!
  20. Hi there! The program that we got into is the accelorated 16-month second bachelors degree. Do you have a BS/BA in any field? here's their website: http://www.mcphs.edu/academics/programs/nursing/index.html
  21. Hey Michelle, thanks for the reply. I did get financial aid in my undergrad so I guess I wont be getting much aid this time around. We'll see though since you said they will send out the packages soon. I wonder if Lynn would have loan resources for us to contact once we know how much we need to get. I can't wait to just start! Best, Erin
  22. Hi, I got accepted into the program too for Jan 09 and Im still waiting for fin aid info and what else to do. Does anyone have any new news? Also, I'm planning on not working either while in school but don't know how to go about taking out personal loans. Do any of you guys know? Thanks! Erin
  23. Hey Erin, I just filled out the Student Financial aid stuff yesterday so it will probably be a while until i find out. Do you think it will matter if it's our 2nd bachelor's degree? Erin
  24. Hey, I didn't do so hot in my undergrad either and my gpa was a 2.73 but my pre-reqs were MUCH better. So as long as your pre-reqs are strong and your recommendations are strong (you should get professors to give them to you) then you should be ok.
  25. I just found out that I got in too! Im really excited but now I need to apply for fin aid and all that. Does anyone know how I go about doing that? Do I have to do it through MCPHS?? Thanks so much! Erin
