You said you would be comfortable on one salary. Move to your dream location. Let your husband, who has been supporting you all along, get his dream job. Two years is a LONG time to spend in a city that is less desirable. Say you sign that contract and find out that you are miserable. Was it worth it for a job? I don't think so. I speak from experience. I am locked in to a two year contract. I have less than a year to go and I am totally miserable. I HATE my job. Move with hubby to your dream state, look for a GN job. Give yourself say, six months. If nothing pops up, work on continuing your education. It's a win, win situation.

I think that clinicals are just another word for "torture". If the CI isn't breathing down your neck, the RN's are. It's like these people have forgotten what the definition of student is. We are LEARNING. I am in my second semester. My CI doesn't drill us, she basically ignores us. We have learned NOTHING. Then, when we do something wrong, everybody screams at us. Seems to me these people we are supposed to look up to and learn from are just waiting for us students to make one little error and then they loom down like a bunch of vultures after the kill. All my life my dream was to become an RN. I waited 20 years to go to school. I was so excited my first day. Now I hate it.

As far as you withdrawing, I think you should have waited. You've already paid for the semester and maybe you could have tried a bit harder to get the situation resolved before giving up. I need to ask and please don't take this the wrong way but were your grades on the low side so that one portion of an exam was sufficent enough to throw you off so that you were going to fail the semester if you didn't get perfect grades? Look at all the hard work and hours of study you just flushed down the toilet. I think your decision was impulsive. Your venture ended today because you wanted it to.

Are these LPN courses? I am in school for RN and in our first semester, we had a quiz at least twice a week, 4 exams, 1 dosage exam-pass/fail, a blooodborne pathogen exam, clinicals, a health fair, one 4 hour lab a week with a total of 10 skills assessments - all pass/fail AND a final. There is a book out there called Dimensional Analysis for Meds. You can get it on Amazon for about $30.00. It was a required text in my course. Buy it and use it. It makes the whole process easy. Do not forget to play the CD in the back of the book. I am sure that after about 30 minutes with the CD, DA will be a breeze.
