  1. Linda, This post could have come from me, except I had my anxiety moment on Tuesday, on my way home from clinicals. I couldn't bring myself to go back Weds, skipped class on Thurs, and made my decision to withdraw on Fri. My reasons are the exact ones as you have. I'm sure people will think I am crazy for withdrawing with an A average and doing so well, but I have such a sense of peace about this and I feel much more relaxed already. I am looking forward to enjoying some time with my husband and children.
  2. Hey, everyone, I could use some honest advice. I am a first year nursing student (age 42) and have five weeks left of my first semester. My grades are great (As on three exams) and grade wise clinicals are going well. My problem is, I am not all that sure that I want to become a nurse. The thoughts of NG tubes and foleys do not excite me. I skipped my clincal day today because I just couldn't take another 4:30am morning and a 40 minute drive to my clinical site. At times, I feel like I don't know if I can do one more day. Thoughts of quitting make me sad, as do thoughts of continuing. Has anyone been in this situation? My husband supports whatever decision I make, and my kids miss me. In addiiton to NS Mon-Thurs, I have to work on the weekends and three Fridays out of four. I am currently on a 20 day stretch between work and school. I often go days without seeing my husband. I feel lonely and confused at this point. I have a BA in Psych and enjoy working with the patients, but I'm not sure if nursing is the capacity that I want to do it in. Any advice or personal experiences would be helpful.
  3. i think the schedule you have planned out is a good one. i had music appreciation for my elective also. i worked while doing pre reqs, have two busy kids and a hubby and maintained a 4.0 through pre reqs. nursing school for me begins in a little over five weeks. good luck with your classes!
  4. i finished my last pre req in the spring, so i am free from classes this summer. i will have fundamentals in nursing and clinicals in the fall. i do have a couple summer assignments to complete, which i will receive at orientation next friday.
  5. i will be attending a nursing college, so nursing is the only major.
