  1. I heard a little less than a week after my shadow. Shadowing is a good sign. Im not sure about the picusturn aroind though... Good luck! Let us know how it goes!
  2. I GOT THE JOB AT CHOP!!!!!!!!! Just wanted to update everyone here. It is possible :) :)
  3. It works, it works it works!!!! In PA we already have our license numbers online the next day after taking the NCLEX!! I didn't even have to pay for the Pearson Quick REsults!! yay!!! I'm an RN!!!!
  4. Yeah its too early. Wait until it says "Delivery Successful" and then the PVT will work. This happened to me too today, but I tried 20 min later and it worked. g'luck!
  5. I took the test today. Ended at 75 Questions. Had 11 SATA so I felt pretty good about that because they were giving me harder questions. I did the PVT 2 hours after my test and got the good popup! Yay!! I feel much calmer now. I'm trusting the PVT and just going to wait until I can either pay the $8 for my quick results or my name shows up online with a license. YAY!
  6. Oops double post.. sorry!
  7. Hi leesh.. thanks!! I think it went OK. I was a little nervous and it showed. I just want it so badly!! Either way I have a shadow day in the next couple weeks and I guess ill hear from there. I wish they wouldn't have u shadow unless hey were seriously considering you. But I know you and another person who shadowed and didn't get an offer. Keep your fingers crossed for me! I need all the good luck and prayers possible!
  8. Thanks for response, Leesh, I'm bummed that you didn't get the job!! I'm sure you'll find something thats perfect for you. I too am interviewing in NICU. Thank you for the tips on interview questions. I'm getting pretty nervous. What was your shadow day like? Did they pair you with a nurse and just have you watch? how long were you there for? I'm just hoping I'll get the opportunity to shadow.
  9. Leesh-- I am ao sorry to hear about CHOP!! I hate those rejection notes too, they are so impersonal and upsetting. I'm really hope you find your dream NICU job. I too am hoping to land a job in NICU in Philly... However, there aren't many places that will hire new grads into that floor besides CHOP. Jeff has a good NICU, but I think they are on freeze still. I did see one position at St. Christopher's Children's hospital a few months back, but don't know where it went form there. I also hear that Holy Redeemer in north philly may be expanding their NICU in the near future so it might be worth looking there... Good luck!!
  10. HI Leesh! Congrats on making it so far through their "system"!! That's a great sign that you had a shadow day. I would contact the nurse recruiter that you dealt with to ask them if they have any idea when you'll hear. They should be able to give you some information and it'd be better to "bug" them then to ask the managers. What floor did you interview on? I have an interview this upcoming friday and am getting nervous!!
  11. gogatsby -- any luck!???
  12. hi gogatsby-- i've gotten thru to a couple recruiters. i'm not sure exactly what it means or if i am any closer to a job, but i have met with one for a general nursing formal interview, and then had a phone conversation with the unit specific recruiter for a specific job. i think the phone conversation by the specific unit recruiter was to screen me and ask more questions before she presented my application to the nurse manager. who knows if she liked me because i was unaware our phone conversation was going to be an interview until she started bombarding me with interview questions!! ugh!! i'll find out in a few weeks if the unit specific manager wants to meet me. my biggest suggestion would be to call the nursing and respiratory career center. ask if you can speak with a recruiter or if you can, suggest that you volunteer your time. they are hard to break through, but it can be done. also, do you know anyone that works there who can speak highly of you to their manager? i think that if a nurse manager asks to meet with a specific person the recruiters will bring them in..... chop really seems to be a place where it is all about who you know.... good luck!
  13. Just wondering if there is anyone currently looking into NICU at CHOP. I'm really hoping to have a shot at a job there. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! :)
  14. i told the recuiter i'd be interested in nicu, picu and ed. mainly nicu though. scooby484k: as for examples of critical thinking, i keep hearing this, but am not sure what examples would qualify as this? i know i do it every day at clinical, but i'm having a hard time determining exactly what types of situations i should detail since up until now i've only been a student level nurse. as for knowing about chop, i'm good there! :) i have done so much research to be sure that it was where i want to be, and at this point, i've focused all of my energy on applying there (which may not be the best idea considering the economy, but it is where i want to start and end my career as a nurse and i know i wouldn't be as passionate with other nursing opportunities). again, thank you so much for your help!
  15. Any new tips on becoming a GN @ CHOP?!?
