Obviously you didn't thoroughly read my post which said that I had worked on the excelsior program and had been recently working on it... so, you are mistaken in your idea that I am "unacquainted with the program"... I am VERY familiar with the program and have been enrolled officially, thank you. And, yes, let's examine "too good to be true".... here it is: no class room time no clinical time no rigorous schedule... there's 3 examples of why it's too good to be true. I don't know why you have YOUR sour grapes attitude. I'm done posting and reading here, no need to reply, I could care less. Good day.

Hey, everybody. I haven't had the chance to read all of this thread, but I do want to give my opinion regarding the Georgia BON's decision to no longer give RN licensure by endorsment to Excelsior Grads. Here it is: I am currently a LPN in Georgia. I spent a lot of time working on my RN with Excelsior in the past, and just recently spent about $400 more to start working on microbiology again through excelsior. I had the intentions of getting my RN by means of excelsior. I know several RNs in Georgia who got their RN after utilizing Excelsior's program, so they always inspired me to do it too. When I found out about the GA BON's decision, I wasn't shocked. Let's face it, if they won't let you sit for the NCLEX-RN after completing Excelsior's program, then why should they even give a graduate from that school a license by endorsment either? I am upset about it, but I think that if that's the law, then they need to revoke, yes REVOKE, all of the current RN's who got their license through endorsment after completing excelsior. I think that's truly the only fair thing to do. If the school is not good enough now and "puts the public at risk" as the BON states, then why would it be okay to allow the current RN's from excelsior to practice??? This whole thing is not right to me and the only fair thing to do is begin revoking licenses. The BON does not see it as hurting the nursing field or affecting our shortage, as we're already LPN's. Anything that sounds too good to be true, Usually is. And, that's how excelsior college sounds... too good to be true. All other students interested in Excelsior... BEWARE!!!!

No, I haven't taken any of the nursing exams yet this time around. Back in early 2000's I took 4 nursing exams and passed them as well as english comp with excelsior. But, I got married in 2003 and have had 2 children since then, so everything with excelsior was put on hold. Basically, the only thing I have going for me with excelsior right now is the english composition. The nursing exams are basically non-existant, as though I never took them:o

Yes, I've thoroughly examined the study guide and have purchased the entire course kit from Excelsior College... so basically, I am expected to learn everything inside and out except for the kitchen sink. I know, "boo hoo", right? I think I'm going to have to quit Excelsior again. This Microbiology is overwhelming and I just have way too much going on right now with working graveyard shift, family, kids, homeschooling them, etc. I don't have the time to learn every single stinking bacteria and blot technique known to mankind... which I will never use anyway. This really stinks. I guess I'll go on making LPN salary for RN work until my kids turn 18, right? Thanks again for your response. P.s... the cowbell skit is hilarious.

hmmmm.... I wonder how much material on the exam will actually include the different labs and techniques?

thanks for responding! First and foremost, congratulations!!!! I totally envy you! Now, about those practice exams... are they exams you take on your pc? or do you have to go to a testing facility? with that said, are you able to take notes regarding the test exam? Thanks for your help!

Hey, All! I have started Microbiology thru Excelsior and have only read 2 chapters so far. I'm finding it kind of overwhelming. Has anyone taken EC's microbiology exam? If so, how did it go? do you remember what the general idea of the questions were? Thanks so much in advance for any info/advice you guys might have!

hi. I myself live in Georgia, and I know lots of RN's who have graduated from excelsior and passed the Georgia state board. I work with 3 of them at the present time and can think of 2 others that I used to work with. Excelsior is legit in Georgia. The most recent grad finished about 2 weeks ago. I got so jealous because the 2 of us had started excelsior together in the late 90's thru early 2000, but I got married and had kids in the meantime. It took her 7 years after she enrolled to finish and she went through a lot during that time, but she did it. I want to, too!!!

Hi all. Very new here, just signed up today. Well, I did excelsior back around 2000 but didn't finish. My question is this. I am starting excelsior again and have not enrolled because of the cost and since I have small children I can't afford to enroll right now so I don't have a nursing advisor. I need to know if you can take any of the core courses at any time or is there a distinct order that must be followed? I wanted to take microbiology before a&p and before anything else actually. I was wondering if I have to fulfill other courses before I can take micro? Thanks so much!
