  1. If surgical masks are sufficient then why did they require the N95. Statement not a question. Obviously the surgical mask is not sufficient.
  2. Parkland has an excellent residency for critical care nursing. The program is approx. 3 months long. But if you don't want to commute, there is also Baylor/Plano (not so busy) and as you mentioned Presby Dallas (busier that Baylor/Plano). I would avoid RHD if you like to be busy.
  3. I would look to St. Paul, Baylor and Parkland. St. Paul- It is a teaching facility but feels like a private institution. Baylor- Same thing. Parkland- It is a teaching facility and county facility, will provide the most opportunity to be challenged daily. Pay is comparable to all. Staffing fluctuates, as in all hospitals. All three facilities can boast about longevity in their staff.
  4. I personally have worked at UTSW. The facility is a physician driven facility that does not support the nursing staff. I can also tell you from first hand experience that the corruption is on the main campus, not so much at the hospitals, but they do all fall under one umbrella. Methodist has been through many changes over the years and I could not comment on whether it is a good place today. It seems that all hospitals utilize consulting companies at some point and the staff nurse feels the impact the most. If you are looking for a strong nurse driven place to work, I would suggest looking at Parkland.
