I took the NLN exam last year it was hard and I did not get in. I am not discouraged as I will be taking it again in a couple more months. I was told by the Director of Nursing that if you are week in the vocabulary and comprehension part of test to pick up a vocabulary for dummies book. This book helps with the root words, suffix, and prefixes. I am using the recommended book from my college by Mary McDonald 2nd edition RN Pre Entrance Exam book and the vocabulary on the NLN exam is nothing like what is in the book. As for the math and science portion it's pretty much the same as in the study guide book I have. Not sure how your school uses the test results but as my school have to get a minimum of 30 in all 3 portions of the test and be in the upper 40th percentile of your class. Unfortunately, I only got a 29 in the vocab/comprehension part. Me picking up the vocab for dummies book has really helped me identify words much easier. Don't be nervous take your time and relax. Take any of the nervous energy and turn it into positve. Believe in what you know and have studied and ALWAYS go with your gut feeling on an answer. If you don't know the answer at all choose one letter and use that same letter throughout the exam. Chances are you will get some of those answers right. Again, this is only when you don't know the answer. BEST OF LUCK !!! Hopefully, my advice helped.

Where did you take your test? How did you go about preparing for the test? I took it last year but did not get in because I only received a 29 in the vocab/reading comprehension part. I am re-taking it next month. I got a 29 reading, 42 in math, and 30 in science. So, I did horrible in my opinion. I am week in math and did very cood considering there are 54 questions in the math portion. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did pick up the vocabularies for dummies book which has helped me alot.

Hi, Have you ever heard of the NLN exam? You have to take this test which, has vocab/reading comprehension, science and math. It has 214 questions and they accept mostly people with a composite score of 84 or better. That is the going number but for the spring 08 the lowest score they took was a 92. It's competitive. I did not get in last year because I only received a 29 in vocab/reading comprehension and you have to get a least a 30 in all 3 and then be in the upper 40th percentile of the class. Do you have any advice on this?
