  1. I am currently in an TX ADN program and we're required to now take a Legal & Ethics class. And according to our instructor, they implemented this exam not b/c Texas leads the nation in malpractice suits...but more b/c Texas wants to sort of set itself apart from the rest as holding their nurses to a higher standard. (does that make sense or did I just mumble jumble?)
  2. WOOHOO, CONGRATULATIONS TO US! I start August 27 (Temple College), the day my husband's 12 day vacation begins.....but ya gotta do what ya gotta do! I'm so excited, I know I want to press the FF button...but I also know come September/October, I'm going to want to press the REW button to now when I have nothing going on!
  3. This doesn't really pertain to piercings...but I just found out I can't have nails and I'll have to wear my hair back..yuck! I hate the way my hands look without my solar french tips...but having to wear my hair pulled back is torture for me. My mom and aunt made fun of me when I was younger b/c I wore my hair pulled up everyday (b/c I was a swimmer and never felt like drying/styling it)...and now I have a major complex! Maybe this will be the therapy I've needed!
  4. that's what I was afraid of... I hate the elastic top pants! Yea, they are using Landau b/c when I stopped by the Uniform Place, she had the paperwork from the school telling her exactly what we'll need. I wasn't going to buy anything, just wanted to stop in since I was in the area, b/c I didn't know we could only buy the brand they specified...I was going to try on some Dickies. Do most people wear scrubs on non-clinical days? And what about shoes...I'm sure they have to be solid white, but can I wear Nikes, assuming they're all white. I hate that the orientation isn't for another 5 weeks....I have so many questions!
  5. what's the Hesi? What color scrubs do the RN students wear,,,and how strict are they about the brand and fit? I stopped by Uniform Place and they said there was only one style (elastic waist and seam down the leg) that we could wear...my worst nightmare!
  6. Personally, I think you can't go wrong with a suit! I interviewed a couple of weeks ago for a 'Health Unit Coordinator", a part time position while I'm in NS, and I wore a suit...and the Nursing Director whom conducted the interview commented on my attire! You'd rather 'wow' them and make a favorable first impression and hopefully stand out from the others, who might also be questioning the whole suit thing! I think it shows a level of professionalism and demonstrates how serious you are about being considered for the position! Knock em dead!
  7. That was my initial impression, but I just wanted to be sure......I went ahead and accepted Temple's offer and have just signed the declination for CTC!
  8. thanks for the info....do you go to CTC or know anybody in their program?
  9. chako: I know you don't have children and schools aren't important to you now...but for resale purposes,,,it's VERY improtant (used to be a realtor with Re/Max in the metroplex). A lot of buyers who don't have children don't want to purchase in a city/district with high school taxes, but it would behoove you once you decide to sell, b/c if you purchase in a less desirable school district, that will be a major factor for potential buyers who are seeking a strong district.
  10. I'm pretty sure part of the website (distance education specifically) is down until tomorrow, but try this: http://www.ctcd.edu/distance_learning_apr_jun08.pdf You can also try and navigate through the main page which is www.ctcd.edu Otherwise I'd try the link again either later tonight or tomorrow! Hope it helps!
  11. No doubt now that you can snub your nose at TC....perhaps it was just supposed to work out this way! But congratulations and looks like you've already met another Baptist student...I'm hoping to find other TC students on here so I'll at least know somebody.....as we've been here for over 2 months and I know nobody!!!!
  12. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
  13. elephant111.......try Central Texas College, they have one of the largest distance learning programs, since they cater to the US Army as the campus is located near Ft. Hood, the nation's largest army base. I took a course (Intro to Nursing) this past spring and had no problems....and tuition is very reasonable! Here's the link to their online course catalog, hope it helps!:typing http://online.ctcd.edu/catalog/
  14. Try Central Texas College....it has the second largest online program (don't quote me on that) since they cater to A LOT of soldiers b/c of it's locaiton to Ft. Hood (the largest army base in the US). Here's the direct link to their online courses::typing I know they offer the pharm online....... http://online.ctcd.edu/catalog/ Good luck!
