  1. yeah they are rare. I had to wait a year to get mine and that was within the facility. You just have to call around and ask if they have a weekend double shift program. I love it cause i get mon-fri off!!!
  2. Thats the shift that i work. i dont mind it cause i love my residents. We get three 30min breaks a day also. I get 15.35hr for all 32hours on the weekend. However weekdays are straight time at 10.35hr until i go over 40 hrs. Then its time and 1/2. Its GREAT money for Pennsylvania.
  3. I was working as a HHA and they told me that when i get my Cert. Than they would pay my 1.00 more an hour. Also i actually got hired as a CNA 2 days before i took the test in a skilled facilty. My advice would be to just get the ball rolling right away and let them know your intentions. If they like you they will wait a week or two.
  4. I asked this a few times, but what is a NA2 and where do you study for this?
  5. I Passed!!! I am so excited! I have been working as a HHA for almost 2 months though. I just got my cert. now i am starting my second job as a CNA for a skilled unit. I also got my CPR cert the other day. God has blessed me once again!
  6. Dude..same here... I am almost 32 and had a great career in top management in many different bus. And you know what? None of that made me feel good at the end of the day. I searched for years and never knew what i wanted or found my niche. By prayer and the grace of god i stepped outside myself and realized what i needed to do was "make a difference", and lets face it pushing freight out the door for a dollar aint it! My mother was a CNA for the last 17 years and stuck with it. Every night she would come home with a smile on her face, and exhausted. I say this cause she was happy, tired and fulfilled. Anyways , as i reflected i finally realized what it was that gave her satisfaction. Every night when she came home, she knew that her entire day was devoted to helping, nurturing and guiding our elder and less fortunate . She never communicated this verbally. ..but i understand and i want to carry that torch..be it a CNA or LPN or RN. We do make a difference.
  7. I just found out for certain that i got into my class. It starts next monday 6/16 - 7/10. Its in Towanda, PA which is a decent drive for me but i cant wait! Its at Memorial hostital. Anyone else going there?
