Hello all! Quick question...does Virginia BON do any type of criminal background check at all for first time applicants? I dont see anywhere on their site where it requires sending fingerprints or anything. Just want to make sure before I send my application. Thank you!
  4. Anyone know anything about the RN-MSN program there? I am considering it... Thanks in advance!
  5. Thank you all so much for your posts. By the way I never had the intention to travel throughout an entire state in one week haha. I am obviously going to travel to the area I have decided on based upon research and have some real estate agent/ rental listing appts to view properties while I am up there. >30yrsRN...thank you for your encouraging words =) Yes I want out of FL very badly. I love the fact that VA has all four seasons...the only weather we have here is hot, hot and hotter :chuckle I am tired of the "city life"...therefore the DC...Northern VA area does not appeal much to me. I have done some research and I am almost sold on Richmond..anyone from there..been there? I have decided to apply for licensure in VA, but take my exam here in FL, so that will give me more time for the move. Anyways this was a quick update post...So busy and hectic with finals for this rotation coming up next week....looking forward to my last course of Leadership though! Thanks again for all your postings, look forward to reading some more... Be back soon with more updates =)
  6. I can only speak for S.Fl...the cost of living is way too high.....even if you find a job as an RN...the cost of living is way too high...I grad in Dec and plan on moving out of state.......dont do it!
  7. I am moving with my SO, and we both have enough savings for rent and expenses until we get a job...a room wouldn't be an option..I have started to sell most of my furniture... We plan on driving up there and taking only the essentials..and buying new things over there...hence the whole "fresh start". We definitely plan on visiting in December for a good week to check out the area before making the final move. Thanks again for all your posts and suggestions.
  8. Thank you so much for all the information
  9. Yes you are right, thank you so much for the links.
  10. Thanks! Definitely need to brush up on my Geography... :sofahider Rent prices?
  11. Thank you both so much for your response. Well, nothing in specific is bringing me to Virginia..I do have a couple of friends that have done travel nursing there and have told me they liked it a lot. Plus I dont think ANYWHERE else in the US, has a worse job market than down here...yes its that bad. I am utterly tired of South Florida, I need a fresh start and change of scenery pronto. How much would a nice 2 bedroom apt or townhouse go for in a decent area? lets say East VA and Richmond? Also, I was checking out the board of nursing websites...what is the difference of Virginia and West Virginia...are they two different states? Because there are two different websites and requirements for each...(pardon my ignorance). Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! :loveya:
  12. Hello all, I am graduating in December from my RN nursing program in Florida. I am looking to take my NCLEX in Virginia and relocate there. Which areas would be the best to live/work? What are the "good areas", and which areas should I stay away from? What is the typical starting rate for a new grad? What is the average rent? Any other opinions/suggestions you may have that will help aid this transition will be extremely appreciated! Thanks in advance :redpinkhe
  13. Mitchel-Levy for Pharm...hands down. She is awesome!!
  14. I need to do a patient teaching care plan on nutrition... Basically my patient is a 60 y/o male with history of cardiac disease, Diabetes type 2, urinary incontinent, has a stage 4 pressure ulcer on his sacral area...he has been ordered a healthy high protein/ low fat diet...but he is totally non-compliant...he eats doritos...cheetos...chocolate...you name it.... I want to introduce him to healthy (but YUMMY) foods he can eat....and teach him the importance of eating healthy at this point in his life for his health's sake... I just don't know how to start...how to write a nursing diagnosis...etc...I'm lost... PLEASE HELP!!!
  15. BTW.. I am sooo frikkin nervous..I think this is going to be the WORST/most difficult exam this sem.........so many small details to memorize!! ugh!! :zzzzz

  20. too much..too little time. ****** crazy. that all i gotta say. you've got to want this....really bad....to pass all these crazy ass classes... i mean...1st semester is only 10 credits...and it is 5 ********** classes..which have so much **** to do...this should be equivalent to minimum 15 credits. you have to really want to be in nursing school..to do all the **** that is expected of you...and please keep in mind.. i am in only my first semester..and admitted with a 3.95 gpa. al ot of dedication required...a lot... anyways..rant over.. gluck. :)
  21. Its ALL CUM GPA with a MAJOR emphasis on the science courses. If you have a 3.5 and up..I would not stress so much...since you will more than likely get in... I'm in my first semester....got in the first time I applied...with a 3.95 though...
  22. Thank you for your responses!! I cant find the PM button to PM any of you...as I wanted to inquire further on cost of living (RN salary/rentals ratio, etc..) SO please please if you get a chance..PM me if with this info and any other info on this area that you may have! Thank you sooo much in advance!! :)
  23. Has anyone in their 1st sem. done their first NUR1025C practical on vital signs?!?! How did you do??? Mines is coming up on Thursday...feeling pretty confident though! :heartbeat
  24. Hi all :) I was wondering if any one has ever worked, known someone that worked, or lives, has lived, etc.. in this hospital/area? I am planning to move to this area once I complete my RN program here in Miami. I am so sick of Miami...I need a new scenery/ambiance. Out of all the places I have been searching in Florida...this seems to "stand out"... Soo.. I would love to kno if someone has "first hand" experience in this area..hospital, etc.. Thanks so much in advance!
