Good luck guys! I got a whole bunch of priority questions too. I thought they were super hard. But I passed. If it's any comfort, I've never heard of anyone getting 75 questions and failing. Although, I'm sure I can't speak for everyone. I'll be praying for you all!

Mine were mostly prioritizing...which I'm not the best at. I was freaking out because I felt like I was kind of getting the same questions over and over.

Time management is key. When you get that down, you'll be fine.

Hi everyone, I just graduated in December and took my NCLEX today (keep me in your prayers)! I wanted to give some advice to the GN's who are looking for jobs. From my personal experience, it's very frusturating getting out of nursing school and expecting to pretty much have a job ready and waiting for you when it's not the case. Even though I started applying a few months before I graduated, I figured I would have no problem finding a job with the nursing shortage these days. BOY, WAS I WRONG. I'm not sure if it's the fact that I wanted a position in the ICU, or what. But I applied to all kinds of positions and wasn't called back by many of them, especially at the particular hispital that I wanted to work at. Anywho, long story short, my preceptor gave me some great advice. BE ASSERTIVE. I called the director of the unit I wanted to work in at another hospital. I told her about myself and set up a meeting about a month before I graduated. The directors like people that are assertive and know what position they want. It may not work for everyone, but it worked for me. I got a job at one of the top teaching hospitals in the US in the unit I wanted. So, get your foot in the door at the place you want to work. From my view, there's no better way! I hope this helps, because it helped me immensely. Good luck fellow grad nurses!

I agree. Imagine if you don't pay the extra and don't find out for up to a month. I think it's pretty rediculous. They know our score right away...I don't care if I get a double unofficial score. I would be willing to pay like a hundred bucks to find out right now...that's how much it's interfering with my life. Haha. Oh well...we'll see. I'm glad that I'm not the only one going through this stinkyness.

That's also what I heard...although I'm not sure how true it is. I hate to delve into the inner workings of NLCEX...but I can't help it because I'm so stressed. NLCEX seems to stress how you don't know if you passed or failed based on how many questions you got. But it makes sense to me...because if you get 75 questions, you recieved the minimum and you were either so much over the "median" line, that it didn't need to test you anymore, or you were so much under it that you couldn't redeem yourself. I also kind of feel like I got a lot of the same type of questions. I'm wondering if that's a bad thing and I was getting them because I had gotten the previous ones wrong. I feel like my last questions weren't all that complex...compared to the ones, say, in the middle of the test. I'm going to make myself sick trying to decipher this dumb test!

I think this is the most helpless I can ever remember feeling. I feel like I can't do anything until I know. The more I think about it, the more I think I failed. It's the worst!!!

Quick results is only available in some states. You can find out within 48 hours for a small fee. Otherwise, BON has up to one month to notify you. I've heard of an average of getting results within 2 weeks. I've heard that the BON website sometimes posts results earlier than quick results. Those are the only ways you can get your results.

Hi Guys, Thanks for your wishes on a successful NCLEX. I went and took the test today. It took me about an hour and I had 75 questions. I took another CAT exam as a prep for NCLEX throuh Silvestri. I passed after 75 Q's. I'm really scared I didn't pass this one, though. A lot of the questions were super hard. I wasn't 100% positive about my answer on about 80% of the questions. I didn't get any dosage calcs. I only got 3 or 4 SATA (Select All That Apply). All the rest were multiple choice. I won't find out until Wednesday. ARRGGHHH!!!

I wouldn't invest $200 bucks in a pair of shoes for nursing school. I also must wear all white closed toes/heels. THroughout nursing school, I wore a really uncomfortable pair of croc looking shoes. Now, I'm in my preceptorship, and I'm going today to buy an all white pair of nikes or NB from the store. Get shoes that are comfortable and that won't do damage to your piggies, however...you don't have to spend $200 to find them.

I thought Fundamentals was one of my hardest classes. Hang in there and do the best you can.

I've had some pretty long days in nursing school. But my final semester has been the longest. 7:30AM-9:30PM on Mondays with a 4 hour lunch/homework break in the middle . I also had clinicals on Wednesdays. Now I'm done...just the precepting left.

Hey Everyone, I will be graduating with my BSN in December, and have recently started applying for positions at hospitals in the city where I'd like to work. The hospital I'd like to work at is in a city about 4 hours North of mine. I graduate in mid-December and probably won't be able to start until the beginning of January (which is what I enter in the online application). A few of the positions that I have applied for online are now "closed", and I am getting a little frusturated. What do you current nurses suggest about applying for graduate nursing jobs? What have your experiences been like? Thanks. Jazmine

Hey everyone, I'm in my last semester before I get my BSN (Dec. 13th!!), and next week I will begin precepting in the ICU 3-4 nights a week. I am super excited, but also very scared. I have this fear that I don't know enough. There is so much to information to remember...especially in the ICU. Anyone have any suggestions for a quick brush up on common stuff seen in the ICU without hauling out my 50 lb nursing books? Do any of you people that have done night rotations have suggestions on adjustment? I've never done a night rotation. I will be working Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays 12 hours/day. Thanks for your input.

Hey everyone, I haven't had a real answer to my question from any of the references that I've looked at. I'm wondering if Obama's plan for healthcare will cause a substantial cut in pay for RNs/healthcare workers do to universal healthcare? I'm graduating in December with my BSN, and I'm just curious about this issue. Thanks for the responses. Jazmine

We have to pass the exit-HESI to move on to our preceptorship with atleast an 850. I got a 901...I think its the equivilent of a 90%.

Hey everyone, I passed my exit HESI, and I'm graduating this December 13th. I was told that my school did not get all the transcripts finalized until January 12th. I'm wondering if I can not work in a hospital until I have my transcripts sent over? I'm just confused about the whole process. When do you get your graduate nurse permit? Also, what can I expect in the interviews? Any suggestions?

At New Mexico State University, we have to pass the exit HESI with an 850 or greater to proceed to our preceptorship. We have 4 tries. I passed with a 901 on my second try. There is a book by HESI that is really great. It gives practice tests, and makes you less nervous about the testing format. I thought it helped.

From what I've heard, the HESIs are actually harder than the NCLEX. It's a way for the school to make sure that the students that come out of the school (that can pass the HESI) will pass the NCLEX. It makes the school look really good. One good thing about this method is that if you do pass the HESI, its pretty much a given that you will pass the NCLEX. However, there is plenty of great study material out there. Plus you have more than once to pass it. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'm trying not to.

Hi everyone! I'm curious about how many of you BSN or associate degree students have to take or have taken the HESI and pass in order to go into your preceptorship (aka last semester)? My school requires us to pass it with an 850. We have 4 tries. Last semester 22 students didn't pass and had to retake the semester! I had my first try at the end of last semester and got an 812 . Hopefully, I can prepare and pass at the beginning of next semester. What are the rules for your schools?
