  1. I am getting ready to send back the professional clogs to Zappos. I tried my size in narrow and regular and they don't feel as comfortable as the lace ups. But that is a great price - the ones I purchased were $109, free shipping both ways.
  2. I buy my shoes from Zappos.com. They have free shipping and if you need to send them back for any reason they will also pay for return shipping. The first pair of Dankos I bought were $89 (shoe laces). Before I bought them I was having such back pain, numbness/tingling in my feet/calves and calf cramping in the middle of the night. When I started wearing these shoes all my foot/back/leg problems disappeared. I will only buy Dansko now. The second pair of Danskos I bought are the Dansko Professionals - $105 - remember free shipping. Also, the clog shoes are supposed to slip on the back - not supposed to be tight. Good luck.
  3. When I started working in a nursing facility as an LPN I had 3 days orientation with 30 patients (long term). I cried my first day on my own because I was passing medications from the time I got there until the time I left. My supervisor was great. She told me there is no way you are going to be able to pass these meds quickly as a new nurse. Even after a year there was no way I could pass those meds quickly. I did end up going to the skilled side and noticed how my co-partner would always get her breaks and go home right on time. I had a permanent assignment so I was used to the patients. I missed many breaks and never got on on time because I was charting. I worked for that facility for 5 years before going into home health. I was a very good nurse there and was told frequently. As a new nurse you should not be expected to jump right in and do everything an experienced nurse can do. I wasn't able to do my treatments for the longest time - just had to pass them on. After 10 years of being an LPN I went back to school and now have my RN. I am working in a hospital for the experience (I never worked in a hospital as an LPN). I am in a whole different world and yes it is uncomfortable right now. You will not know if you like a job or not until about 6 months. As for applying at other places, you can just tell them what happened or since it was such a short time, not mention it. They didn't give you a chance and that is so sad because we need nurses. I will add that when you do get a new job, find out everything you can and ask questions. Know the drugs you are passing, at least what they are for and become familiar with side effects, labs, etc. This is something that comes over time. GOOD LUCK.
  4. I took the ERI review course in person, which I didn't like, but they also had it online which was very good. I also took the Hurst review, which was also good. I had several CDs from study books that I used and answered questions. I wrote down things in a notebook that I didn't know from the questions. I studied everyday (I did not go to work until I passed my boards) for hours until I took my boards. I listened to the ERI on line several times. I also focused on what I felt I was weak in during school. I studied by myself. Everyone has a different way to study. I hope these tips help. I had 75 questions and thought I failed but it turns out I passed. I used the earplugs they offered so I couldn't hear anything around me that would distract me. YOU CAN DO IT. GOOD LUCK!
  5. No, it is not okay to give injections through clothing. Clothing has germs all over it, its like injecting the germs into the body.
  6. There are many different areas to work as a nurse - LPN or RN. Hospitals always pay the least, nursing homes/rehab facilities pay better, and home health pays the best. There is always room for growth and you will never be bored. If you get tired of one area of nursing you can go to a different area.
