Just PASSED NC1
I have no idea:scrying: Didn't know there are 2 versions? My study material is full of Nursing Theories ,Health Safety, Med Admin. etc. Lots of material. I took the practice exams for Excelsior and only got a 76 on the first and 73 on the next...that doesn't give me a lot of confidence going in to the Exam on Tuesday. Just can't wrap my brain around to processes ie. what part of nursing theory is this...assessment planning implementing, evaluating. and coping mechanisms. I guess critical thinking is not something I've been used to doing as an LPN. Gotta get in the Critical Thinking Mode:eek: Any advice? Thanks Candy

Anyone Using RUE...
I was terrified to take my first test. Just remember to take a deep breath and read the questions carefully. Usually there are 2 answers you can rule out, and 2 others that are viable answers...when in doubt your first instinct is the right one. My positive thoughts are flowing your way:wshgrt:

To Excelsior or Not to Excelsior, that is the question....
Hi Ylla here in Ma. Are you with Excelsior I'm looking to find someone in Ma. who's also doing Excelsior...I've been an LPN for 27yrs. Recently lost my hubby(who was an RN and the primary breadwinner in the house) so in order to keep my home I MUST obtain my RN. The hospital I work at will start me off with a payscale reflecting 14yrs RN experience. That is certainly what I need to do to survive. I'm an OB nurse and a Childbirth instructor. I've gotten as far as I can as an LPN so getting my ADN is real important. IM me if you'd like. I need all the advice and support I can get! I'm testing Tuesday for Nursing Concepts 1 Thanks Ylla999

Can a LPN work in L & D?
Great Advice Laura I'm new to this site and I'm an LPN who has been working 27yrs at a general hospital(last 13 on a Mother-Infant unit, also a childbirth instructor for the last 5yrs) I've done okay even with the limits of my LPN status...but I've had to get RNs to advocate for the advancements I've managed to obtain. I recently lost my husband in 06 and he was the primary breadwinner in the house(an RN with a specialty in critical care education and IV therapy) this sad loss forced me to accept the fact I wasn't going to be able to keep my house with the salary I was making...even though in this area, Mass., my hourly rate is good..27dollars an hour!) I'm 54 and don't have the energy to work 40hrs a week. So I've gone back to school to earn my ASN thru Rue Ed. Not easy but hopefully do-able. I'm so happy to have found this site. I could use the support and friendship I hope to find here. Thanks Candy
