termination from nursing school
Sad to say that there are some Clinical instructors who are not professional enough to handle things. A CI is someone whom we can rely to when there are things that seem to be vague, someone who's there to assist and help us fill those blanks in our mind. Sometimes we need to be assertive when there are doubts in our minds, we have to make sure that what we're doing is right. But I can't blame you because you're CI's there and you trusted her. Next time know the 10 R's of medication administration first before administering any meds, your CI should have been the one who told you that. Now just like everyone said, you have to document the whole thing and let your Dean be informed about it. It would be better if you seek help from a lawyer to better discuss things in a legal way because this is not a simple matter. Everything has to be corrected now before something like this happens again in your school. God bless in your endeavors.

Depressed RN- maybe nursing isn't for me?
"There comes a moment each day when we must simply drop what weighs on us and hand it over to God." May the Lord bless you with what you pray for... Reward you with what you work for... Grant you with what you hope for... And above all, Surprise you with what you have not asked for." ___________________________________________________ I understand how you feel babblingbrook, you're just pressed down and sidewards and it really feels terrible. But, listen to me, you're still alive, breathing, not just in the right perspective and emotional state. Your life doesn't end with all those problems. There are times when we feel hopeless, powerless in our situation, but let's ask ourselves, who else will help me with this kind of situation? Ask God for strength that you will be able to stand and move on. You're not the only person experiencing those problems, there are millions out there and the key is already in your hand. Don't let those negative thoughts further ruin your life, fill it with positive ones. It's not an accident that you've become a nurse. You're there for a purpose. If you don't want to be in the NICU then try to transfer to other departments. We always have a choice and we could always choose what's better or worse for us. Don't dwell in the past, there's so much ahead of you if you'll focus your mind on it. You may not always get what you want but try to thank God for the things that you have including your life and health, and that you're not one of the patients lying there waiting to be cured. Forgive me if I sounded like someone who's that close to you to tell you these things. I'm just concerned about you. Being a nurse is a blessing, you're a blessing to those neonates and to their parents whom you have educated, coz I know that somehow you have touched their lives.

Need some good advice about my career
Hi luv2care! I know I'm not in the right position to tell you these things coz I'm still a newbie in our career. Honestly, there have been an overproduction of nurses these days that's why it's not that easy to find a job. In your case, you did find a good job but with a low compensation. Well it's up to you to choose either to stay with that job or have no job at all? It's really hard sometimes to fully embrace a job that you think is lacking. But then again it's up for you to decide; if that job makes you feel special and loved and for you it's rewarding or fulfilling then you can stick on it,but if it's the opposite, then you can easily get out of there. And also, don't listen to those people who tries to stop you from working in the hospital. You wouldn't be able to know unless you've been there yourself. Bullying doesn't really exist if you have the right perspective. Throw away those negative thoughts and replace it with positive ones. If you always try to see good in other people and complement them, it would be easier for you. Just remember that you can't please everybody, there's always someone who will find fault on you,but don't let them get in your way, you just don't know their story, and who knows you could end up as friends. Working in a hospital is like entering a huge battlefield, it's a place where people from different walks of life meet, all you have to do is to equip yourself with the right knowledge, skills and most of all a loving, caring and compassionate attitude. Hope this helps^_^ God bless you.

Warning Nurses! Holding It All In Can Kill You!
Thanks for your suggestions Nurse_Advocate and interleukin! Great tips from experts! Just graduated from my second course which is nursing this March. Although I don't have any experience yet when it comes to being an RN, I had experienced some of those stressful situations during our clinical rotation as a team leader. Though we can do multi tasking in other things, when it comes to our patients it should be one at a time to ensure their safety, we could always say no to other responsibilities that we cannot handle at the moment and do it later on. One thing that I appreciate the most is that we shouldn't let the situation take on us but rather we should control the situation, it is where leadership and management plays a good role. And of course don't deprive yourself of the privileges of a human being such as eating, it will just reduce the concentrating and thinking capacity of your brain. Thanks again for your advices, I'll really share it to my friends... God bless you!:bowingpur:saint::loveya:
