I thought southern Florida hospitals moved their patients to other hospitals.....unless this isn't a hospital. Screw them.....your child's safety is more important to you...but I'd quit before getting fired. As far as it being the employees responsibility to show up and do their job.....that was an ignorant thing to say because this isn't a normal circumstance. People going to their job in this can get killed. What kind of job would she do and safely at that, if she is always worried about her child. It sounds like you don't have local family like many others don't have. Remember, get it straight.....your family is first, regardless of your job.

Bravo!!!! Well said. These are the primary reasons why i, as a senior nurse seeing and experiencing this....left the hospital scene. I now do VNA....and love it. Good nurses in the hospital are drowning and burning out fast! Shame on the fat cats who care only about the bottom line, although they claim to be patient centered.....those of us know the truth!!!!!

This not normal, you are not a crybaby...they are taking advantage of you. Quit that job, report them, and find another. There are lots out there.

Hon, being a nurse, to me, is an honorable profession. We see those new to life, those who are at their worst, getting better, and those who are at their end of life. We make a difference in each of those people's lives and are the vehicle that only improves someone's life. We work hard, under at times unrealistic expectations, all because our souls are called to this profession. The problem is, we ARE valuable as you stated....but, we are generally not valued. There is the difference.
