  1. I would strongly suggest you contact your state wage and hour commission for some advice. If you punch a clock and then the times are changed afterward by someone in accounting without your approval and knowledge I believe that is illegal. And if you work over 40 hours per week that is in most states required to paid at an overtime rate. Call the state and get some advice and good luck!
  2. Darn . . . I hate when I do that and why didn't my spell checker git it! LOL, Thanks Sandy!
  3. As a long-time writer and grammarian I would like to add my two cents. I cringe when people use the wrong word, or mispronounce a word that is commonly used in our business. I hate to read other nurses' notes because I find myself groaning at the mistakes, the poor spelling, and the lack of proper grammar. It adds to the possibility of error which is already high in nursing. So, I have to point out that in GilaRN's post the word annunciation is completely out of place. I agree that there are a lot of regional differences in the way we say things; but the way we say things is to pronounce them or it is our pronunciation that is different. Annunciation refers to an announcement (check the dictionary for the Latin root) as in the Annunciation (or announcement) to Mary of the Incarnation by the Angel Gabriel. See Luke 1 :26-38 I'm sorry, but when you join a thread aimed at improving our use of the language, PLEASE use a dictionary and don't use a word that causes you embarassment. Thanks! The Grammar Police . . . I'm sorry it's a pet peeve!!!!!!
  4. Thanks for the info BMW10. I had my interview Friday morning and was offered a position in the ER Friday afternoon. I'll be there around the end of May. I'll be interested to see how things shake out. I'm sure you'll figure out who I am (if you're still there) so be sure to let me know who you are. Thanks again!
  5. . . . Medical Center. I'm interviewing for an ER position there in a couple of days. Anyone have any information about the hospital, the company (Lifepoint) or the community. Thanks for any help you can offer. Generally it seems like a pretty nice area but some specifics would be great.
  6. I graduated from nursing school in Dec 2005. I wasn't the oldest person to ever graduate from my program, but at 55 I was probably the oldest guy! It was the best thing I ever did so I encourage you and say Better Late then Never! I was fortunate to be able to attend school full-time without working, unless you consider playing music professionally 2 weekends a month work. I did take a part-time nurse extern job when I was a senior. Just be careful with your time management and you should be able to juggle everything and good luck!
