  1. I gave myself a month before the test to study and I would study 5 - 6 hours a day.
  2. What you can do is go to the Board of Registered Nurse website and search your name. If you name is listed, then you passed. It usually takes up to 48 hrs after you take the test to see the result on BRN.
  3. Yeah, just let me know. I check Allnurses.com every day, so if you have any questions or would like me to help in anyway I am very happy to.
  4. I feel that all the books are equally good. I took Kaplan and used their Qbank, but instead I used mainly the HESI book to look up on things that I forgot, but I also used the Kaplan book for other things as well. I think doing questions helps the most. Do as much as you can. For me I did 100 questions a day. I would spend a few hours going over the questions that I missed, read the rationales, and if I still don't understand I would look it up (whichever book you prefer). The goal was for me to not memorize everything, but the important things such as safety precautions, important labs and drug values, etc. Other things such as diseases, you should try to understand them instead of memorizing them. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to IM me, my AIM is YelloFello because I know how nerve racking this is. If you like me to answer more of your questions here, please feel free to ask me, I will be very happy to do so.
  5. Congrad my friend. Sorry I wasn't around to give you any advice, but good job!
  6. I took Nclex this past Wednesday and i got 75 questions and I passed. Thank you all for your support.
  7. I had to take the HESI for my school too. Yes, the Evolve questions helped a lot. I took the HESI twice because I didn't do the Evolve questions the first time I took it and I failed (scored an 815) The second time, I did all the questions from Evolve, plus I reviewed the HESI book and I scored over 1030 which is 98%. So I would get it Evolve questions and do all of them. Good luck!
  8. Don't worry, the Kaplan questions are hard. I took Kaplan too, I was scoring around the same percentage as you. I am not saying this to make you feel better, the truth is that many of my buddies scored below 65% on Kaplan and they did just fine on the Nclex. All of them got 75 questions and passed. Just remember, when you take Nclex, safety first and read through the questons, double check your answers to match what the question is asking and you'll do fine. The day before the test, just relax, if you like, review only very little like only for 2 hours MAX, then relax for the rest of the day. Good luck!
  9. Hi In the very beginning, like the first six times I did the Qbank I was getting around 48% - 62%. Then I got bummed out because they recommend above 65%. Then I went through the problems more slowly and figuring out what the questions are actually asking helped improved my percentage by around 5% - 10% right away. What I mean by that is you gotta watch for the key words. For example, when a question asks, "The nurse suspects a broken leg..." That most likely means the nurse did an assessment already, so the next action would be implementation. So it was just recognizing little things like that could improve your percentage. Also my other friends were getting around 48% - 58% and they got 75 questions on the Nclex and passed. One more thing, I would do 100 questions from the Qbank a day and go back and read the rationale and make sure you understand them, go back and read the contents from any book like HESI or Kaplan book on the one you don't understand. Towards the end, I was getting around 65% to 83% on the Qbank questions.
  10. I took Kaplan, the complete version with the Qbank questions and they are very helpful. The reason that I liked it was because you can do the questions online and afterwards it tells you what you need to work on. The Qbank has around 1150 questions or so + a few hundred from the rest of the package from Kaplan. I did all the questions because it helps you to become familiar with the way questions are asked in Nclex. I can say that doing all the questions helped a lot and at least for me, without the Qbank, I don't think it would of helped me as much. If you are able to, do the Kaplan complete.
  11. Hi guys, My name is Nathan and I just graduated from a BSN program in San Francisco, California not too long ago. I am new to this forum and I just want to say Hi to everyone. Also I am taking the Nclex this Wednesday. I have been doing a lot of questions (I did over 1000 questions) from the Kaplan course site and I also refreshed my content from the HESI book, but I am still very nervous about the upcoming test. I think I just need a few words of encouragement or advice to get me through this stressful time. Thank you very much for listening. Warmest Regards, Nathan
