I submitted my application to POEA cebu and bacolod early this year, i just received a text from SRO manila yesterday informing me that im scheduled for an interview this Dec22. DOes anyone here know the latest salary offering for MOH? I have yet to decide whether to pursue my application though, since i am getting married on january and I fear that my marriage might fail because of this, i have ambivalent feelings about this but if the salary is big enough, i might recconsider
  3. tall black man is prolly the grim ripper, maybe. Ive read stories where patients actually see a ghost of a dead relative or a black man/ shadow before they die. Do you know if the little boy died? Keep the scary stories coming guys :chair:
  4. episiorraphy without anesthesia?shiz thats painful. But eww to actually dig in a bucket full of blood, sharps and including poo (most of the time) is awful and really scary - who knows the woman might have hepB or something a ghost that actually pass meds, scary but cool. I bet the nurses in that floor dont pass meds anymore on his death anniv. they just let him do all the work, haha.
  5. Mine isnt the scariest but its my first scary and emotional hospital experience. I work in the OB dept and 2 of my patients last night were newly born twin 7month old premature infants (they were supposed to be transferred to the NICU this morning). The mother and infants were brought to the hospital yesterday from a far flung area, mother was experiencing lbm and what she thought was a BM was actually the first of the triplets coming out from her. Baby 3 died since it took them too long to get a nearby hospital -baby was a footling and her head was stuck inside the mother. Anyway, Baby 1 (also footling) who had a frail chest and neonatal sepsis coded and we tried to revive her for a few minutes but she arrested, turns out she was already bleeding internally ( she wasnt breathing nor moving for quite sometime before the watcher informed us). After she was pronounced we did an emergency baptism since the mom was catholic . Right after closing with amen the heat lamp (already turned off) flickered 2 times.. Me and another nurse just stared at each other, i was too scared to say anything and i got goosebumps all over my body. We guessed it was a "thank you" This is one hella scary yet emotional experience for me . How about you, whats your story?
  6. I appreciate your concern for the Nurses here Suzanne, but we must give it the benefit of the doubt. Who knows this might work well for the trial group, learning another language isnt that hard (well if they try hard enough), and the training can also help prepare them for the exam. And they can go on from there, it depends on the person's "diskarte" (?ingeniousness) We shouldnt be afraid to jump into the uncertain right? Without a first step how can we move forward.
  7. Sorry but I dont understand why you're almost always so negative about threads like this Suzanne.
  8. My take on this is that second coursers shouldnt be banned from taking up Nursing, AS LONG AS they stay away from this short courses/programs. They should take the full four year course (3 years if their arts and sciences can be credited). Everybody has his or her own reason as to why they want to take up this course, but they shouldnt take short cuts. Or else theyll be the ones to suffer in the end. This has been a problem for quite a while now for those who took Nursing as their second course. Ex: There are quite a number or 2nd coursers whose application for registration for NZ was denied prolly because of the unbelievable overload and other major subjects that they took simultaneously (pre reqs and the majors simultaneously).
  9. I appreciate the posts of most nurses here. But RN1989 i think your post is a bit too harsh. I am a Filipino and I think that its unfair that you generalize Filipino nurses as being "lazy" by running away from the problems here in our country and your giving the notion that we just want to cash in and make money. There are some Filipinos, just like any other nationality, that wants to work in the US, or maybe UAE, Canada, Australia etc. Each individual has their own reason as to why they want to work there. But there are also many Filipinos who are content with working in our own country. True, there may be some who have a different and selfish reason of working abroad but this doesnt apply to all Filipino nurses. So please do not generalize, you have only heard 1 comment like that from "1 filipina" in this forum.
  10. You know what, theres still really a lot that we can do right now. There are still hospitals in the country that are hiring nurses(Negros) and hospitals that still accept volunteer nurses without charge. Just like what Suzanne keeps on saying we're looking at 5 more years or more before we can even get a visa. In the meantime apply as nurses to other countries such as Dubai, Jeddah and other Arab countries. My brother's bf, June'07 passer, is already working as a Nurse in Kuwait. A lot of nurses who used to work there have already retired or resigned. Gather experience. I hear South Africa is also in need of Nurses. We just gotta have Patience and Perseverance
  11. I think no matter how bad our economy is getting i think its not fair to say that we should just let another country run or colonize it, people from other countries my also have bits and pieces of problems with their homeland, eg insurance, healthcare etc. I am proud to be Filipino, we should be. I took this course not so I could come to the US and cash in and make money but this is what I love to do and I want to make a difference in other peoples lives. I want to work in the US someday but that doesnt mean ill turn my back on my homeland. If you are FIlipino, stand up and be proud that you are one, stop bashing and bad mouthing our country. The problems are there, just try to make a difference.
  12. How sarcastic! youre not even from the Phi
  13. how do you report illegal immigrants, do you have to get their SSN or just give their address to the authorities or something? My father is an illegal immigrant in the US , together with his "other" family. Im hoping he can be deported, he has pending abandonment and domestic abuse case here, he wont even sign the annulment papers. He needs to be deported
  14. yeah your right Suzanne. Its indeed such a waste when you think about the degree that they finished but then they just work for a less fitting post. we still have a lot of options, we can work in the middle east while waiting for the retrogression to be lifted.
  15. ouch i think thats a bit too harsh:scrying:. I think they are not actually/ intentionally selling off RNs to fill these less fitting posts. What they are trying to do is just helping provide more employment for Filipinos (RN or not). This isnt the only job opening that the gov't is offering. Yes they clean asses or provide personal care to these patients but there are also other things that they can do like give insulin injections and stuff (actually acting as private nurses). They can use this as a stepping stone, for sure these nurses wouldnt want to be just caregivers forever.
