  1. I started CRNA school at 27. I will be 30 when I graduate.
  2. I'll be there :-) Currently living at Bermuda Islands Apartments. It's super nice here. Moved here a few months ago from out of state. There are several current Wolford students who live here as well. It's minutes from campus and the beach!
  3. I'll be attending there. Also have a friend that will be attending. I currently live in Naples already. Moved down here a few months ago because my fiancé began working down here at the local hospital. We live in Bermuda Islands and my friend is also looking to live here. It's really nice. There are also several current Wolford students who live here as well. It's minutes from school and the beach :) Take a look at it on the internet.
  4. I actually looked for a school that was around some of my family members and that's a big reason why I chose Wolford College in Naples, FL. I was living in St. Louis but didn't have any family there so I was looking to move. Luckily Wolford is a CRNA only program so there is no medical program to really compete with in the local area. What program are you going to?
  5. Hey! You are right you will need to first get your BSN and then your ICU experience. During school I would definitely focus on getting a good GPA. After graduation just focus on getting great clinical experience. Look at schools that you are interested because they all have slightly different requirements for admission. First priority though would be get good grades in undergrad and then obtain some great experience in the clinical setting as a nurse. Best of luck!
  6. Hey guys. Feel free to ask any questions about anything. I wish everyone the best of luck with their journey to CRNAville as well.
  7. I applied for Spring 2012 and have interview in September. Does anybody know what the Wolford interview is like? Thanks for any advice :) :) :)
  8. Yeah! I passed!! PVT worked :-)
  9. It is true. Starting in April of 2010 the new format began. There is an increase in percentage of medications that you will be asked as well as they are testing the new "audio" format. If you receive an audio question it does not count against you as of right now. They are just testing tha format out right now. However, Kaplan instructors told my group that they will count in the future just not sure when. I took NCLEX-RN two days ago and didn't have any audio questions. Had 87 questions and found out about an hour ago that I passed!!! My PVT had the good pop up as well :-) Good luck to everyone!
  10. I took NCLEX-RN this morning and got 87 questions. Had 7 SATA, 2 exhibits, 2 dosage calcs, lots of priorty and a few isolation. I got the "good pop up" when I got home when trying to re-register on pearsonvue so I feel more at ease now. My preparation for the exam was I completed the first 4 of the 7 Kaplan trainer exams and 40% of their qbank questions. Hopefully it worked!!! Best of luck to everyone!!!
  11. I got the "good" pop up so hopefully that means something! Ahhhhh!!! Saturday morning can't come fast enough!!
  12. I took the NCLEX-RN this morning and it stopped at 87 questions. I had 7 SATA, 2 exhibits, and 2 dosage calculations. I feel like 87 is such a weird number the the exam to end at. Have you or anyone you know passed the NCLEX-RN with a "strange" amount of questions? Results will be in Saturday morning at 8 am and I'll repost. Thanks!!! Chris
  13. Hey everyone! My question is regarding trauma centers. Does your ICU experience have to come from a Level I, II, or III trauma center? Has anyone ever gotten into or know someone that has gotten into anesthesia school and their ICU experience was at a non-trauma center? Thanks for you help!
  14. I got kinda of lucky because there is a student in my BSN program right now who's parents are both CRNA's at local hospitals by me. I just asked the student if it would be "ok" to contact one of the parents and ask to shadow. It worked and now I shadow the mom on a monthly basis in the OR. Moral of the story is, if you're still in school find out if any of the other students (especially those who want to be CRNAS) have family members who are CRNA's and see if you can shadow them! Good luck :)
  15. Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I saw that both St. John's and Barnes offer a fellowship program in the ICU/CCU. I'm going to keep my eye on them and maybe try and get a tech position with one of those hospitals during school. Thanks again!
  16. Ha, how did you guess that I have CRNA in mind :) Dealing with the heart is the most interesting thing to me, so it works out kind of nice that CRNA schools prefer experience in the CVICU! Thanks for the advice and I have a friend who just finished 1st semester of clinicals and picked up a tech job at St. John's and he really likes it. I'm thinking about doing that after the 1st semester is over so I can bypass the hospital's training for the tech job. I'm really interested seeing what Barnes has to offer and I'm glad that UMSL does some of their clinical work there, so I can see what it is like! I'm sure Cali is nice :) I have a friend who works for Boeing and is moving down to L.A. next month. AAAHHHH, school starts in like 2 weeks. I'm soooo nervous!
  17. Thank you very much for the information that you provided :) I will most definitely check into it as it as it has been a bit difficult finding some online chem classes. Thanks again!
  18. Becca, I have interest in going into an ICU type position after graduation and was wondering if you had any insight into how I can make this happen. I've heard it can be difficult to get an ICU job right out of school but at the same time I've seen people do it. Do you have any words of wisdom for me? Thanks for any suggestions and how is So Cal treating you?
  19. Oh yeah! I just found out that I have been accepted into UMSL's Traditional BSN clinicals starting in Fall 08'. I'm super pumped and ready to begin :) Anybody else out there find out that they will be starting in Fall 08' too? LET THE GAMES BEGIN :yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:
  20. Congrats on getting into the accelerated program by the way! I forgot that I still have to take that junior level writing class and that with the A&P 2 was why she didn't want me to apply because that is alot of work to squeeze into an accelerated program. Plus I would assume the board would probably like it if their nursing students had completed A&P2 :) I wish you the best of luck in the program and I know you will do just fine because you have to be quite talented in order to even get into the accelerated program :) I'm sure we'll run into each other through the chaos! Take care.
  21. I applied for the Fall 08 clinicals and my advisor (Susan) called me on Friday and said the letters will be going out this week for acceptance. I'm really nervous and hope that I got in, as I'm part of the new admissions policy where it is solely off of your GPA and I didn't have one of those "guaranteed" spots. I really wanted to do the accelerated program but I missed it by one gen ed class, A&P 2 I'm just really ready to start! Are there any others out there starting clinicals in Fall 08?
  22. Kittyn, It shouldn't really matter as long as you do well in the class, like getting an A :)
  23. Neurogeek, There are a couple of schools (Missouri State, Barnes-Jewish) that I'm interested in that do require at least 3 credit hours in o-chem. Plus, I believe that it will better prepare me and also allow me to stand out from other applicants, since filling seats in CRNA schools is so competitive. Now I just have to make sure that I do well in the classes! Did you think that having o-chem helped you out at all in regards to preparation for school or the admissions process itself? Take care :)
  24. MB37, Yeah that is a good point. Now I'm caught up in trying to figure out how to squeeze in these chemistry courses. I found a community college near my house that offers General Chemistry I in the first 5 weeks of summer and General Chemistry II in the second 5 weeks of summer, so I will be able to knock them both out during one summer without delaying my graduation in my BSN program. Then I'll find a way to take O-Chem while I'm working as a RN gaining the experience to apply to CRNA school. It's all good as these are just a few more loops to climb through to get to my dream. I'm definitely not going to let a couple of classes get in the way of my families bright future!
