what should I do?
I'm having a hard time deciding between the LVN or RN programs at my local college. I've been reading about all the advantages of RN (more options, pay etc.) but with that comes a tremendous amount of responsibility and probably stress too. I've always been one who takes and follows direction easily and I enjoy being the wing-(wo)man. So I'm leaning toward the LVN program to get my feet wet and really see how I may handle all of the demands. I also realize that LVN's have a great deal of responsiblility as well. Has anyone had a hard time making this choice. Thanks so much for any feedback!:nuke:

Am I too sensitive?
I'm not even in nursing school yet, and I'm wondering if I'm too sensitive to be a nurse. I've been reading posts about working at a nursing home(night shift) and having to check on patients every two hours, wake them at 4am to bath, dress etc. to have them to breakfast at 7. All I can thinnk about when reading this is my own 84 y.o. "Nana" and how she would feel being woken every 2 hrs. throughout the night for the rest of her life. It just seems so harsh. Yikes! It makes me sad and I don't know how I will be able to do that to another persons "Nana". I realize it it is procedure and it is to take care of them etc. but how do get over feeling bad for the patietnts. I want to make them feel better, not make their life more difficult. Am I being too sensitive? Will I get used to this schedule/routine of care? Thanks for any feedback!

I worked a double yesterday and today I called out!
Wow! I'm not even in NS yet but your post scared me! I thought people chose to be nurses because they want to help people in their hour of need, and when they are at their most vulnerable. It sounds like you are surrounded by nurses that have become callous and detached from their patients. Good for you for picking up the slack for these patients and good for you for calling out too.:wink2:

Anyone else ever wonder if they are making the right decision?
Hi there, I just turned 36 and am taking my pre-reqs and hopefully will be starting NS in the fall of 09. I have two small kids as well and a husband serving in the Navy. I have all the same concerns you do. Life is so busy already, what am I doing adding nursing school? And being an old lady to boot!:) I'm definitly not letting my age stop me though and you shouldn't either. I think some of our life experience will be a great asset to our classmates. Any way, keep your eye on the prize, and you can do it!!

should i be worried...
Hello, This is my first post and I wanted to say hello and introduce myself. My name is Kristin and I am in the process of applying to nursing school. My husband is retiring from the Navy shortly which leaves a bit more time to pursue my dream of becoming an RN. I am a little nervous about being accepted to the program for which I am appying because of my lackluster grades in high school. Mind you it has been 17 years since I graduated (wow. That's alot.LOL) I have taken a couple college classes recently and have gotten A's in both. How worried should I be about poor grades so long ago? Any input would be great!
