  1. Did you end up taking the job? and if yes, what do you think?
  2. Hey Rebecca - when I sent in my application no documentation (proof) is required - there is just a box to check verifying that you have had 2000 + hrs of practice in the last 3 yrs, and in reading your experience in your post you should have no problem in meeting that - on the app you just have to list your gerontological related CEU's - I did it all online and from what I had heard the response time from the ANCC is much quicker than if you mail it - hope that helps ! GOOD LUCK with your test.... (I feel like i am prepping for boards all over again!)
  3. Am registered to sit for the Gerontology certification exam in early Aug - just wondering if anyone out there has taken it & if they have any good pointers / advice for me prior ??? I have the ANCC review manual & another by Wallce & Grossman - anything would be appreciated !!! Thanks :)
  4. Your list looks very similar to what I had when i was in school ( 6 yrs ago) -as for your recommended.... I got the Dillon pocket assessment guide & the Tabers Dictionary - both came in very handy for me -- when you start out you will be writing TONS of care plans so keep that in mind - find a GOOD care plan reference book !!! - as for the NCLEX books , I would hold off on those ( save $$$$) my advice to you would be get all your requireds then wait until you "get your feet wet" it may give you a better idea of what will vs will not be especially beneficial/ applicable - you can always get them later - and like an above post mentioned - check Amazon or Ebay for books - I save a TON there !!! :)
  5. I love the med surg book by Lewis, Heitkemper & Dirkson !!! Lots of good info & thorough - I graduated 6 years ago and still use it :)
  6. I hope someone out there can help me with info - I am looking to returning to school for my BSN, have been accepted to Bethel ~ have heard nothing but rave reviews & the class structure of 1 night a week is ideal however, the cost is somewhat daunting... then looked into Metro (much cheaper...) but it's turning into a whole "dog n pony" show with their application process - it seems very drawn out & that I may have to take 3 prerequisites before even getting into the cohort - a friend suggested Mankato - which she said was ALL online... is / has anyone taken part in Mankato's RN to BSN program ? is it truly all online or are there campus times involved ? any info would be much appreciated Thanks ! ?
