I became a NURSE, OH I MEAN LPN, 25 YEARS AGO!! When I was in nursing school, they said they were going to get rid of US within the next 10 years and Grandfather the LPNs in. All nurses would then be titled by #'s Nurse 1- You have it all to Nurse #4 Just an LPN. Well 25 years later it hasn't happened. The funny thing about being a licensed nurse, you will most likely make more money than all those people who spoke up. I have made more money than my husband, brothers, etc. Now for the RN. Could you imagine being a brand new nurse and having to be RESPONIBlE :angryfirefor so much. For anybody under you, you as a regitered nurse, your license is at risk. So, I would rather be a LPN for many, many years, learn the business, then maybe become the RN responsible for anybody else. (I'm not talking patients) I can tell you that I have had a wonderful time in many disciplines as a licensed nurse. I have taken 6 pre-reqs since I was in my 30's for my RN. If I become a "real nurse" by the time I am 55 I will be happy, but for now, I will continue to play Lo paid Nurse:twocents: God Speed Nurses!!!!

don't forget in every work arena there is a harassment policy that includes: age, race, etc. all you have to do is ask her for the form since she is the secretary and probably has it at her desk. if it continues with the disrespect, use your nursing...that always stands high above secretaries!!!! good luck:smokin:

When I was in nursing school twenty five years ago in South Dakota, our teacher made us on the bottom of every test write our priorities for life. She said if we kept them, we would never fail, we would always be happy and successful. After all these years working, in management, 60-70 hrs/week to just 3 12 hours shifts, I can personally tell you that my 25 year old daughter resents my early management years when mommy was never home. I am grateful that she has forgiven me and we are close now that I have remembered and stick to Ms Jungs Priority bottom test answers! GOD FAMILY WORK When you change that list in any shape or form watch how your life will go quickly to the enemy. And remember, with God, you can any day over at any time. That's what work bathrooms have done for me on my knees!!!

Last March I was working for a company that I had been employed at for 5 yrs. I worked nights 7p-7a. It was a friday night. On the thursday before I had conscious sedation while my pain Doc did a bilateral lower lumbar radiofrequency. I went home that thursday afternoon and slept til I woke up to go to work that Friday evening a 6pm. When I awoke, I was nauseated, weak, dizzy, multitude of symptoms. I have always taken pride in good attendence, so I went to work. (they also have a 2 hour advance call off policy) When I went to work, I did not get any better, but throught the night I became more ill. By midnight, I could barely keep my eyes open. Charting was almost impossible. The R.N. I was working with was green from lpn 1 month prior and was not helpful in any way. I am a LPN, therefore I can not do anything without asking her permission. She was on a unit far from me and I tried to communicate as best as I could. She told me to go lay down at 4 am after a projectile vomiting episode for my lunch hour. (She also gave me the harder unit with the admits coming in.) When I laid down it started my Multiple sclorosis fatigue to set in. By 6am when I went into the conference room to record report, I kept falling asleep. Three days later I was fired and sent to the board of nursing. I just had my hearing. I gave the board 3 Doctor letters regarding my fatigiability, also 3 previous letters the same dr sent my company requesting them to put me on day shift because of my Multiple sclerosis. I presented the board with so much paperwork documenting that this was a sickened state I was in. Here are the results. 2 years probations. Drug tests 2 times a month x6 months then once monthly after. Drs notes with my meds each month. A 4 month eval from work (I have no job) with questions regarding my RECOVERY. Pscyh eval, a THIRD pscycosocial eval within the next 2 years and occupational therapy. If you met me, you would never believe I have M.S.. I worked for this company for 5 years with evaluations that were in the highest of marks CONSISTENTLY. The place where I worked was for a small 12 bed unit that consisted of one RN one LPN and one CNA. A wonderful type of unit. MY QUESTION IS THIS!!! I have 30 days to sign this consent agreement or do I make an appointment and try to fight it? When I had my big 5 minutes with the board, they told me they were proud of me and how great I was doing. (Whatever that meant!) Can somebody with some experience give me a clue please. I have to my answer in by March 11. Thank you Brother and Sister Nurses...
