I don't think the cost of living is too bad...no state income taxes and the pay is probably comparable to the sourounding cities. I have not seen any new postings either. Maybe everyone is gamefully employed and too tired to post...lol. As far as specialty cuisine, I don't have a clue, but Dallas is not too far. Try looking up info. on Tyler by going to www.city-data.com, it has lots of detailed info on most cities. Let me know how the interview goes. I live in Indiana currently. I was told that Trinity will provide a $3,000.00 relocation bonus if you are coming from out of state. I just received my HireVue web-cam yesterday. It appears there will be nine questions. It's pretty nerve racking knowing you have 30 seconds to read an answer and then you will be recorded ready or not...lol. I have read good things on here about Trinity...one of the reasons I applied. They are known for being new-grad friendly and seem very nice. My recruiter just told me they will be building a seven story heart hospital phase two, which will be complete in 18 months. I will probably take a med-surg spot if offered. I wish you well on the HireVue interview and we just might work together :)

I am a seventeen year veteran of the Air Force and plan on finishing my remaining time in active duty. The officer candidate training (basic) is not that bad. The emphasis will be on classroom more than PT (physical training). I have heard some branches are doing away with basic traiing for some all together as an enticement to join. The Air Force will give you 30 days leave (vacation) day 1. I love the Air Force; it has been the easiest job I have ever had and the most exciting. Twenty years and you can retire young enough to begin second career. If you want to get your masters or advanced degrees, they will pay you your full salary while you train. You will also get bonuses, great benefits, and every government day off imaginable. Lastly, the government is growing while the local economy is shrinking....more job security!!!!!! Why not accept a different job without a two-year contract for now, even if it is not what you want until the slow government process takes place? Take a couple of P/T jobs if needed or try a different location. You will find a closeness in the military and friends for a lifetime.

I heard the Stats and Chem teacher is awesome. I am looking forward to the class. I moved here from Seattle last year. I will have something in common with the other girl coming from Seattle. I wonder how many people are coming from other areas. That girl in your stats class sounds like she was a victim of predatory lending...ouch!!!!!!!!! The hospital I worked at in Seattle had a similar program for scholarships as Carle Hospital. Many hospitals will offer tuition assistance as well if you work for a specified amount of time. I will probably have to combine tuition assistance from the military, loans against my 401K, work part time, and try to get a line of credit. I would like to stay out of further debt if I can. Yes, I am the George on the builletin board. It sounds like I am not the only one sweating over finances. I used most of my FAFSA money already on a 2 year and a 4 year degree already. I am freaking out about how to pay for school now that I have gotten in. I am older(43) and don't have help from parents; your lucky. I heard the first semester is a bear. I don't think it is feasible to work and go to classes. What is the scholarship from the Carle Hospital? Do you have to be an employee? I still need the Chem 115 class which I am taking this summer at Lakeview and a Nutrition class on line. I would love to stay in Danville but, I don't think I can afford it without Financial Aid cash. I may have to limit my commute with gas prices or sleep in my car...lol. Have you spoken with anyone else starting this Fall?
