  1. WOW! learning a lot! Thanks! :yeah:I've also like to add that I've drawn a couple of vacutainers for her in the past, it's just that I felt uncomfortable with this because the pt has a Dx of CHF and atrial fib, and when she handed me around 6 vacutainers plus the 5-10ml of blood I had to waste, through a line that goes straight to her superior vena cava.... I just got scared I guess, my inexperience showing. Plus the fact that when I told her that she has to be beside me when I do it because that was what the policy stated, she just looked at me and left... so I went to the patient's room and asked the pt if we could draw the blood from her other arm, it's a good thing she agreed, I was suddenly able to breathe. No prob drawing there either, I don't know if it's good but I would only use a PICC as a last resort for her. Thank you for your replies. I have always relied on allnurses ever since I was a nursing student and I've never been dissapointed! Love you all!:redbeathe
  2. Thank you for your replies. Just to clarify that the post was meant to say that the phleb would rather have me sign that pt refused rather than try to get the pt to have a stick. We are not a hospital, so our pts do not get sticks all the time. Im just comparing because at the other facility I worked with, the phleb was hospital - based and he got all his labs on time and never a problem with his sticks, even having the time to be nice to the patients, that is all. Again thanks!
  3. Hello fellow nurses! I recently transferred to another SNIF as an 11-7 RN and in the am, the labs phlebotomist would keep asking me to sign papers that the pt refused to have blood drawn, and I would go to the pt's room and ask them myself, and they always agree if its me asking ( this in the middle of med pass). I was just particularly irked today because last night was very busy, then at around 6.45am the labs called me to say that the phlebotomist would be late for 20 mins and to hold the residents' breakfasts until she comes! So I go, ok I got all the names of the residents with blood tests and asked the CNAs assigned to hold it (we are on full census!) So here she comes( while I was counting narcs with the incoming nurse) asking me to sign the lab again that the pt refused! I asked her what lab it was, and it was a PT/INR, so no way Im going to allow the pt not to have it. So off I go to ask the pt again, and she agreed, and the phleb brushed me aside(as usual!) saying, "I'll take it from here". Then I was counting with another cart and she interrupts me again saying that another pt with a PICC line wants her blood drawn from her PiCC line, and that I should do it because Im the RN! I absolutely am not comfortable drawing blood from a PICC line, there is so much policy to follow ( 2 pages long) and the pt has good veins! ( someone had informed her that since she is a hard stick, everything can be done with a PICC line). For me, the risks far outweighs the benefits (mainly the pt's comfort and the phlebs' time! sigh...) I hate losing my patience, but off I go to the pt again and asked her to have blood drawn from her other arm, and she said yes! Then here she goes again with her "I'll take it from here" line. I keep losing valuable time with this phleb because I needed to endorse my narcs, and do some more charting! My question is, do your lab rep ever do this to you? The phleb in the previous facility I worked at never asked me to do this! Im just venting and I do like to hear your views. Many thanks in advance!
  4. would love to have a copy too! :)Thanks!
  5. hi ms. suzanne! I have asked the BRN - CA to kindly resend my request for validation of passing test results for my NCLEX to CGFNS, but unfortunately they said that I took too long waiting, so I need to send another request and pay another US$60. I'm just writing because I was always following up before and they just said that they did send it, but it was only now upon your suggestion that I actually asked them to resend. So to the others who have the same case as I, if CGFNS states that they are still waiting for passing test results and according to the BRN , they have already sent it, just don't wait too long to ask them to resend, otherwise, it is going to be costly. warmest regards
  6. Oh,the pleasure is really mine, Ms. suzanne! and thank you once again for the advice, I will get in touch with BRN as soon as I can. Warmest Regards :wink2:
  7. hello ms. suzanne! Thanks for the reply, I truly appreciate it. I sent the request through US Postal mail, and I paid through money order from the same postal office. They did give me a tracking number, only I never checked it. I just called the BRN if they received it. The person that I talked with confirmed that they did indeed receive said request and sent it to CGFNS August 15. I just kept following up with the CGFNS, they just gave me the same reply, still waiting for the NCLEX results. I also received the same response through the mail. Now Im thinking I probably have to do it again! :) Anyway, I would just like to thank everybody here at allnurses, you have all been a big help in helping me pass the NCLEX! I did self study, finished at 75q, and I hope you don't mind me still asking for your help every now and then. Thank you once again to all the wonderful people here! :):bowingpur
  8. Hi Silverdragon! Greetings! I have a question about my visascreen. I have submitted all my papers, and have requested BRN - CA to submit my NCLEX results to CGFNS by mail with the $60 enclosed. I called BRN then they said that they have sent my results last August but until now when I update my file for my visascreen application, everything is ok except for the NCLEX - waiting for passing test results when I already passed August 1 of this year. When I call CGFNS they just tell me that what I see on their website with regards to my status is also what they see...... so they cannot give me any other information. It is frustrating, but should I send another request to the BRN? Thank you in advance and have a good day!
  9. Thank you once again! This is really informative. :)
  10. Thank you very much for the replies, Ms. Silverdragon and Ms. Suzanne! I really do appreciate it. Fortunately, I have never overstayed my visa all the times I go to the US. I was just wondering, do the immigration officials at POE know that one has a petition pending upon reentry? Would it already show in their computers right away?
  11. You go girl! Congrats! Sooooo happy for you! :hpygrp:
  12. Hi everyone! I wonder if anyone can help me. I have a valid tourist visa to the US, and I was very recently petitioned by a US hospital. I know about the retrogression, so it might take several years. Im just hoping that having a I140 petition won't affect the status of my tourist visa so I could continue visiting my relatives here in the US while waiting for my turn. I normally go to the US once a year for about three weeks. Is it possible that US immigration won't allow me to enter as a tourist once I have an approved I140? Thank you in advance.
  13. Happy Birthday Suzanne!:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:
  14. Greetings everybody! It just seems to me Ms. Suzanne, that the reason why we don't have a reciprocity for foreign graduates to be licensed in our country is because there is actually no one that I know of who would rather work here. Why would they? The equivalent of $300 a MONTH is not exactly attractive (My brother who is a US nurse earns more than that in a day). Even for my colleagues in the Philippines, and even for that amount, there are still no jobs to be had. It doesn't make any sense for ANY foreign nurse to even want to be licensed and work in the Philippines. My country has always been there for America, and if American nurses would want to be licensed and actually work in my country, Im sure the Philippine government would be more than willing to oblige. It just wouldn't make sense at all......
  15. i agree! wouldn't want to go through that again too, God is good! Passed with 75q last July 28, but it took me almost two hours! Not easy really, congrats again!
