  1. Funny thing really... I am a Californian, native born, whom went to school in another state. I originally registered to take the NCLEX with Cali, however they took to long to process my application, so I reregistered out of state and now have to get the endorsement from cali. My prints cleared (I verified) and transcripts on file, simply awaiting out of state verification form to be submitted to cali (no nursy's). I hope to take the endorsement application with the $50 fee to Sacramento... and God willing... get a temporary license... seeing California finally gave me a Iterim Permit (now null and void due to my out of state lic) while awaiting for the out of state verification... Assuming I get the temporary license in my hand... am i dreaming???
  2. Hello all, Does anyone know how long California takes to endorse a license from out of state? Thank you :heartbeat
  3. Chad... By the sound of it..... you kicked butt! Statistics show that the types of questions you had reflect higher end questions. Are you a fast result state?
  4. Hello, I had a California IP granted (and read in a previous posting that means my transcripts and finger prints are ok)... but because cali took too long and gave me my permit and authorization to test in the same day (makes no sense to use a permit for two weeks), I had already given up hope with my home state of California and registered with Alabama (where my BSN was received) and I got my ATT, Passed the NCLEX, got my PASS results in 46 hours, (all within two weeks -Way to go Alabama!) but that being said... I sent the endorsement/reciprocity request to Alabama Board of Nursing... called California's board and was told that my previous application is good for one year (mind you I am nervous it's the same application as the endorsement with the 2 by 2 passport photo, but reads Application for Licensure by Examination vrs Endorsement...) meaning if all prints, transcripts are in place then all I need is Alabama to send to Cali that Endorsement request (yes I paid Alabama's fee for processing). My concern is... Cali BON is no "treat" to deal with on the telephone (all guarded) and because I felt like the woman had a hard time convincing me that "if" everything is on file (affraid to ask her to take a look) all I need to send is that Endorsement request and have it returned to Cali... Is the lady on the phone truly sure that my previous application (costing more than the Endorsement request) that she says "is good for one year" going to suffice for the "now" Endorsement process? (I know it's bad... But I somehow learned not to trust... or sometimes like Cali's BON) Further more... Does that automatically waive the 50 dollar fee for that Endorsement application? :uhoh21: I mean... you can't help to be soooo excited that you reached someone on the phone calling Cali's BON... much less, get all your questions resolved if you feel that one lady has no idea what it is you are trying to relay to her (no disrespect to that lady). But if anyone should have input or shed some light with simular stories... perhaps? Thanks for your thoughts in advance.... and at the very least.... I hope this helps others. :typing
  5. HAHAHA. My lady said "I hope everything works out for you"... and I passed. LOL. I can't help to laugh, because some how after sitting there for two and a half hours... I did walk out of their thinking what does that mean? Perhaps the proctorers read our worn out faces and we are left analyzing their comments! too funny. But naw. I am not convinced they have the slighest idea... unless of course they are analyzing our "how long we took" time and worried looks on our faces... again... out of sheer boredom of having to sit and wait for the last testee to finish. Know what I am saying?
  6. i am certainly glad that i did not find this site (as great as it is) before taking the nclex. in fact, i happened across this site, only because i typed in the google search engine an hour and 1/2 after taking my exam: "140 nclex questions + pass rates". i will say i felt a whole lot better reading some of these post... many that made me laugh, especially after just taking the exam myself. i want to say, that i can imagine the stress that some of the "diagnostic" approaches to the exam would have caused me to have experienced if i had read some of these posts before the exam. i'll be honest, i was ready for the nclex. i highly recommend joann zerwekh and jo carol claborn's illustrated study guide for the nclex-rn exam (6th ed.), with cd rom (inexpensive on ebay/amazon). my best advice: i hit every one of my weaknesses!! yes, i took drexel 3 day course (i had the money & oppurtunity and i feel it only helped me understand the nature of the nclex questions and provided a "crash" course review that i am not certain i really needed right before graduation as the course was voted by class majority to take and get over with asap). i graduated with my bsn in alabama and went back to my home state to take the exam. to my surprise (and my heart goes out to all californian test seekers/takers) 4 weeks had passed where i was studying as if to take the nclex on every monday...thinking "what is taking so long!?". i had classmates that graduated dec. 14 and taking the exam on jan. 10 and passing by the 12 of january! i found myself registering for the alabama nclex where i too, got my att, test date, and have passed the nclex all within two weeks (well done alabama). but the "dissecting out" the exam in some of these posts really made me feel a lot better after my exam. certainly couldn't imagine before hand, because i am an overthinker and my exellent imagination prooves that i would be freaking out while taking and analyzing the exam, after reading some of these posts, hands down. my best of best advice: i was so bloody angry at cali for not getting it together fast enough (by the way, i got the cali att and temp lic together which does us no good, just one day before flying out to alabama) which means my focus was: "i'm going to take that exam one way or another!"... hence i had a positive experience. i truly can not stress how important your attitude is and it's affect on your ability to perform and endure the dreaded wait for results. i am one of those few (according to reading many posts) that thought the nclex was easy and i am saying that i walked out of there knowing i passed. but then came the calls from other exam takers.... saying "it was soooo hard and omg"... and then my feeling of.... hummm, what if i didn't pass because the test was trying to help me with easier questions? (all normal feelings s/p nclex) and the story unfolds from the above mentioned. fact is, i was ready. the worst case secenario... is that i'll take it again. don't get me wrong... i was scrapping the whole way through nursing school, with an instructor telling us... you won't pass the nclex with c's and i had many test anxiety moments (no kidding). i was determined and hence, i was a little confused as to why i felt so comfortable when approaching my test center. but then again, it paid off. spend some time eating turkey... meaning to relax! and keep a positve attitude (no need for good luck... cause you are going to do just fine) :typing
