  1. I really don't like Kaplan cuz it's more of self-review and... oh nevermind! I just don't like their review style. It's not effective for those people who get motivated when there is somebody in front who could give u lectures, if u r this kind of person, then Kaplan is not good for you. The lecture style isn't good either.
  2. live2help, ur welcome... who would be helping each and everyone of us here? nobody, except US, nurses!!! Hehehhee... We really have to be motivated enough to say... we are nurses! Go go go!!! We can do it. Let's keep in touch of our progress. Good luck!
  3. live2help, i know how much it hurts not passing the first time, just like me. That almost everyvbody believes in me that they know I'll pass with 75 questions. But it disappoints me after receiving a huge envelope. That's life. No matter how u tried sometimes, God doesn't give u the right time to have it with RN after ur name. But don't be ngative just because u didn't pass for the 2nd time. Like what genny0616 said, she will do it again and again until she will pass the exam! Just bear in mind that there are many people out there who passed after 6 attempts or more, so it is not just you alone in this country who keeps on trying to pass the exam. Same here, I really want to pass the 2nd time around cuz i've been keeping promises to my family to help the out once i'll be RN already. Currently, I'm reading the Saunders Comprehensive Review for NCLEX-RN, the blue book. And will also attend the review, Excell Review that my friend highly-recommended it cuz they got the best lecturers, as what she said. International nurses found it most helpful (I guess) and it will give u a very comprehensive review not just doing self-review alone. I did the Kaplan before but it didn't worked out on me so i'm looking forward to Excell Review cuz 10 days straight from 8am to 5pm everyday, there's a review, intensive review for the whole class. Just be positive. Never give up and always look at the mirror and say, "I am a Nurse!" Good luck to us!
  4. I also used the Kaplan online course but it didn't do well cuz I took it for granted that I only read questions and stuff but I didn't take much time for listening to videos... I easily get bored on online classes that's why I decided to go to CA, cuz i'm currently in NV, where I can be a student in front of instructors and they would really have to do lectures and everything, which I'm really looking forward to than just fo the self-review alone, boredom kills me. But thanks for the tips... Yes, Kaplan teaches you strategies on how to answer the question. But somebody told me (which I also agreed) that not all the time, u may apply the Kaplan technique. "U btter have to master the content not the question itself cuz if u do understand everything, even if u will be bombarded by lots of questions, u will not be panicked!" - that's what she said, and now, im reading all the contents again that failed me the first time, i'm focusing more on my weaknesses...
  5. MRSCURTWKIDS4, thank you for the encouraging words u said... Yeah it's good that u really make use of ur time, that 45 days left to prepare for the 2nd take. What did u do then? Then u went to any review class or just an online course and do the self-review? I would also like to know what's the best book for u to recommend me. I bought Saunder's cuz they said it's very good. And some says, it's Mosby's! And now i'm confused!!! Wishiwereanurse, yeah wer goin to nail it the 2nd time. Wer u in CA? Same here, wer on same boat... From Philippines...
  6. Thank u AGE2GROW... My friend told me that Excell Review Center is the best and highly recommended review center so I've decided to go for it! Hehhehe... hopin' to have my luck and the right time for me this 2nd time around. GENNY0616, yeah we are somewhat alike... Hehehhe... iM motivated enough havin' u guys here in forum, someone to talk to or someone to encourage me. I hope we'll be goin' to make it the 2nd time around.
  7. I also failed the first time I took the NCLEX and I really thought I will nail it cuz almost all my friends are consulting me to teach them the content and everything. They really believe on me cuz of my good grades when I was in college. February 4, I knew that I didn't passed! I was so depressed. I didn't cry upon seeing that I did not pass! What causes me to cry? I found out that only 2 categories, INfection control and Health Promotion -- that I failed. And i almost passed! But then I look at the positive aspect in life... maybe it's not yet our right time to pass now, and I knew that I didn't give my best shot. Just imagine that i've been so bored so I stepped here in America, that I'm always used to have a study-pal in my college years. So, what I did... I keep on using the internet during my wee hours of studying and I took it for granted that I was so confident in myself. But look at me now, worrying again on this NCLEX thingy for the 2nd time around. But guys, let's take it positively, there are many of us who failed, much smarter than us, and they, themselves have studied a lot. LEt's nail it on the 2nd time!
  8. awww too bad! I didn't make it!!! Huhuhuh... I only failed in two categories... Infection Control and Health Promotion. And now, i don't know how and what im gonna do to pass the 2nd take.
  9. whew!!! I hope I can see the same thing as yours. I will receive the mail by tomorrow. Wish me luck! Hhehehehe...
  10. Ok! I got it! Thanks for the info. At least I can help my friends... hehehhe...
  11. Philippines don't have a poor education... I know some who are really hardworkers and they don't care much of a high salary, wht's important is that it could support them and their families... But they are smart as well.
  12. Yup! Thanks Leilah!!! Hehehhe... But im still quite confused though. :)
  13. Thank you Leilah... Im just confused cuz some says that size doesn't matter. I once read here in the forum, that she got the huge envelope but she passed! According to her, at first she feels like so hopeless seeing that huge envelope that she don't want to open but when she read it all, she was relieved upon seeing the word PASSED. Whew! I hope I will experience the same thing. Hehhehe... If ever I'll receive a huge envelope. Btw, so, what's inside the huge envelope u received before ur license? Does it says that u passed? Thank u again.
  14. this thread is nearly 2 years old and things do change, there has been talk in the last couple of months of ca changing and requiring local licensure. always better to approach and ask bon on current requirements i am not a registered nurse in our country but i was still eligible to take the ca nclex-rn. 5 of us here in ca who didn't take the local board in our country was made eligible to take the exam. 4 of us have already passed. while me, still waiting for the result. four of them stopped at 75 questions and passed. i also stopped at 75 q's but i'm not pretty sure yet if i pass/fail. i don't want to expect anything.
