Good luck on NCLEX and good job on getting the ICU internship program! Ideally, it is better to start straight ICU full time since an internship does not count. The best source would be your CRNA program of choice. Ask them if they accept it. The ICU internship program is better than no ICU job. I had to spend 3 years in medsurge before I got the ICU position.

I went into nursing field to become CRNA. Pros of nursing is job flexibility, different shifts, perdiem positions. Nursing is physically challenging. Sometimes you cant even go use restroom. The best choice is to specialize in ICU or other filed. Usually have 6 patients and someone is going for it scan, other needs pain med, other one pooped and cleaning, another one is wants to sign ama and leave. On top of that you need to medicate them timely and record all your interventions so you dont have stay once your shift is done. Sometimes it's a nightmare. Also you need to move patients and the become more heavier lately. Advice is becoming top of your game, know what to expect and your goals. Getting gob as new grad is hard. Try to get position at your clinical site. Once you get atleast 6 month experience your options are much better. Good luck!

I am CRNA. Nursing is tough. I did medsurg floor in order to get to ICU, we had up to 15 patients. crazy times. It was well worth it.

YOU could ask me LIU was too expensive, still paying for it.

Hi Anny, my daughter would like to apply to undergraduate nursing at Hunter College. The info on the hunter website is confusing: how long does it take to complete all prereqs to take the prenursing exam? There seemed to be two different lists of prereqs to take. Thank you.

Dear MeTheRN. Thank you for you great efforts and good luck on exams! My questions is: what book would you advise to buy to study for CRNA before school. I am currently an level one trauma center SICU RN with 6 months experience, GPA 3.8, will take CCRN in September 2013, did 2.5 months in medsurge before SICU. I did not take chemistry and physics classes in USA. I am thinking I will need reinforcement in this area as well. In the school they told us first to talk with the nurse, then with manager, so I will try to talk with that nurse first, I don't know if that is going to help and how she will react. I just found out today that there is a book to sign, and it should be by turn. I had no idea about that. Thank you Canesdukegirl for the reasonable answer.

Hello. I am new grad, finished my orientation and on my 2 month of work. Everything was good until now. One of experienced nurses tells to flow whenever she is a charge nurse. During a one week I already floated twice. She doesn't say hello. I just don't understand her attitude towards me. She talks to me as I irritated her somehow. I feel intimidated. I am a male nurse. All other nurses around told me that it is unfair to float new nurse. It should be at least 6 months of experience and then I should be floated, besides, she did not tell me that I need to sign a float book. Any thoughts? Thank you.
