  1. I did my program part time over 3 years. The first year was fine. Online classes...easy. The last two years were a mess. I was working 3 12hr shifts a week and doing class and clinicals. I had something going every day. On top of that I was having a new home built and my husband is a pilot and out of the country a lot. It is doable. However, you will get real tired of seeing patients. You will be stressed and not sleep much. I did save up all my vacation time so that I could take it the week of exams and to get in extra clinical time. Find preceptors who are flexible. If they do long days where you can to and get in your required hours that will help. Especially if they work Saturdays or even Sundays. If you can do hours in a prompt care, take it. They work long days and you will get the best experience.
  2. I have done work with Friends of the Children of Haiti. Excellent organization. They have their own clinic in Haiti which serves the same clients every other month. These clients receive medical treatment and medications for free. They are expected to return to the clinic for their refills. Staff stay on site. They have a website for reference.
  3. :w00t:Best of luck to you. I can relate to how you feel. Let me just tell you that it does not matter how many questions you get when it comes to determining if you passed or not. Just some insight.....I took the test two days ago. I scheduled my test with my friend so that we could go at the same time. I graduated with honors, and she barely graduated. She suffered the entire time in school while I worked full time as well. The day was as everyone has mentioned. However, my friend who struggled through school got 75 questions and I got 262. Who gets 262. I have seen 265, 120, etc but never heard of anyone getting 262. So, I figured that I had failed. I have already started my job and they were anticipating me having my license number by the end of next week so that I could move a bit faster along in orientation since I did my internship there and already knew my job. This morning my results were available for viewing. I paid the eight dollars and to my suprise, I passed! I took the Kaplan which was a huge help. I also read through the Saunders book from front to back. Also, I put sticky notes all over the house with drug names and lab values so that I could study and practice not matter what I was doing. It did help. All I can say is try not to beat yourself up over the exam. The number of questions you have will mean nothing. Just try to keep busy during the 48 hours between completing the exam and getting your results.
