Name the hospital and its Starting Salary!!!
Hey Kay--thank you so much for replying--believe it or not I just got your reply--yes, actually, I sent my resume online and I sent it with a note specifically writter to her--however, I never heard from her--I don't know if it's because they are not hiring right now or what--I was very dissappointed that I did not hear from her, because I would love to work for HSS--I am not sure how else (short of actually going to the hospital in person) I can get an interview there. As of now, I am not employed, and I am looking for another position, but so far, no one is calling me, it's almost as if nobody is hiring, or maybe it's my resume that is not agreeable to them?!? I don't know. I almost feel like giving up and going to another state! I am not sure what do do anymore.

Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC
Hi Rockz--thanks for replying so quickly--can you tell me more about the PACU residency--what does it entail--the hours--what about the recruiter? May I have her name and her email address? Do you think that maybe because I have a current job (I currently work in a cardiac hospital and I hate it so much there, I am dying to get out and I've only been there about 4 months). Would that disqualify me for this HSS? I just got my license in May of this year too. I was interested in their OR residency, but I never thought about PACU--I know it's a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, but what do you actually do there. I want so badly to get out of the cardiac floor. Let me know. Thanks much.

78,000 for dialysis nurses
Hello, I read your post and I too am interested in dialysis nursing although I only have about 3 month of med/surg. I am doing cardiac and I hate it and I want to do something else--did you find that job and which agency did you use to get it? I too live in NY and whatever info you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Telemetry Staffing Ratios
1:4 !!! That's excellent--in my cardiac hospital we have to work 8:1 cardiac monitored patients and we have no monitor techs--the nurse is the one who has to watch the monitors as well as do the patient care--we get no LPNs to work with us--we get nurse extenders to help and they draw blood and do sugar sticks--that's it! when I get off work in the am, I am literally exhausted to the point where I can't even stand straight on my feet. Having a ratio of 4:1 sounds like a dream to me. PS--I am also a new nurse--I have worked there only 2.5 months and because of this experience, I am starting to not only hate my job, but to hate nursing as well.

Can anyone help me please--I passed my boards in May and started working for a cardiac hospital in June and I hate it! I have only been there for about 3.5 months and I cannot stand the constant beeping of the monitors all night long and I also hate the night shift. I want to try doing something else and I want to do it during the day--maybe OR or Psy? Can anyone tell me about working in OR or Psy? Thank you.

New Grad feels lost... not cut out for nursing?
Hello, I too am a new nurse and I have been having the worst time ever. I feel like I am constantly walking on egg shells. I get so nervous going to work that I actually have started to cry the day before I have to work. I work in a telemetry unit and I have only been on my own for about 8 shifts and I already had 3 med errors, two of them on the same day. I am so afraid of losing that license that I worked and prayed so hard to get. I do have the more experienced nurses on the unit telling me that I can ask them for help, but how do I ask for help when I don't know that I am making a mistake? Truth be told, I did not want to work in Med/Surg. My first love was either pediatrics or L&D. However, I heard from so many people that it would be best for me to have at least one year of experience in Med/Surg that I decided to do it for the year and then branch out. Now I believe I have made a horrible mistake. I may even have made a mistake being a nurse. I feel so stressed out and I am so deathly afraid of making a mistake that would kill someone. I do the night shift, because I thought it would be easier for me, but it turned out to be just as hard. I am thinking of quitting the hospital and going into home care, or maybe quitting the profession altogether. I don't know what to do, or where to turn to anymore.

I hate the NCLEX-RN Exam
I understand your pain--I too, took the exam and failed it twice. I don't recommend anyone to take the Kaplan review however. I took their review right after graduating (May 2007) and I failed. I could never find anyone in their center to help me with any questions, and even in their classrooms, when you ask the instructor a question, she kind of brushed us off, as if to say that we should know the info. already. Several of the students (myself included) were really ****** at this and could not wait to get out of this review. Needless to say, I did not have a great experience with them, so when I failed the first time, I requested my money back--of course, I got short-changed by $50 (my original payment was $350), but I did not care. I just wanted to get rid of them and get another chance at this passing this thing. And for a while, I tried studying on my own, but once again, I failed the exam. I was really desperate and started asking about what I should do. One of my best friends found some information about a woman who had a really high passing rate for her students taking either the NCLEX-RN and PN. She gave me the woman's number and I contacted her. She had me send her the results from my previous exams and called me with her recommendations about how I should study. I followed her requests and after 5 weeks of studying, I was able to go to her review(which was in the next state from where I lived). It was amazing the kind of tricks she showed the class about how to answer the NCLEX questions. So basically, we all found out in the class that it was not the content we had issues with, we had issues with the way we were answering the questions. And her tricks worked, because 5 days after I took her review, I went to take the NCLEX-RN and I PASSED! So don't be discouraged--it is not that you don't know your stuff, it is most likely you don't know how to answer the questions properly. If I can do it, believe me, you can too. Silvermist

Sorry--I am new to this site so I am not sure what you mean about Suzanne's plan--what is that? I too failed twice and I am at a loss as to what to try next. Thanks for your reply.- Failed the NCLEX twice--please help!
Hello All--I took the nursing boards twice and failed both times--I am at a loss as to what to do. I graduated in May of 07 from a 4-year program and I took the Kaplan review but that did not help me the first time--the second time, I did the Lippincott 3500 cd and although I did better in that second test, I still did not pass. I have worked so hard to graduate from school and I am now at a complete loss as to what I should do--I was advised to take the LPN and work as one for now and to take my time to study once again for the RN, but like I said, I am not sure where to start anymore. Any advice would really be appreciated. Down in the dumps - I think i passed!!!
