  1. For us it takes 5 hours with all that we have to do. 1 hour for the accessment of the pt and about 45 min. for Oasis. Then all the other stuff we have to do the 485, fall accessment, hospital accessment, dx list. Oh and we get paid for 3 hours. None of the other 7 Nurses here can get it done any sooner either. We only have Compubar for our chart notes and 485 which really slows us down. We have been discussing with our administration and have a commitee to reduce the paperwork but it has not changed any. They are not really interested in changing it.:angryfire
  2. Never heard of such a thing. Why would she do that, even if every one else at NH did it.
  3. I'm just not sure it is worth all the hassle we go through. Lately we have to work 2 weekends a month and 1 night during the week on call. Our suppervisors are salary and have no sympathy, even though one of them did work as a HH nurse but over 10 years ago. She keeps telling us how bad it was when she worked the field. I havent told them yet but I am looking for another job. But there arent many now so stuch for a while.
  4. Are you finding the same thing? Seems to have been isn the last 2 years. So we have more admits, faster turnover of pt's. What are your feelings about this?
  5. This subject really hits a sore spot. I see into the future that this is whats coming for all of us HH Nurses. And it's not pretty. Our company has started talking about it and calling corporate and asking how to measure our time. They dont think we are very productive but we as nurses all have to wear many hats and do multiple tasks. But they dont measure that.
  6. How do you get paid for on call? Do you get paid hourly/per visit or a bonus and how much. Our Adm. will be reducing our call out pay so we need to know how others are paid.
  7. they need to be turned in for Medicare fraud. Some of their money is coming out of all our pockets.
  8. Get out quick. If this is how they treat a newbie it will only get worse. We also see 4-6 pt's per day less when we have an admit or recert. Apply and interview at anything else in your area. You could tell them youve heard about other agencies and what their expected volumes are and if they cant comply you will be looking for another job. Put the pressure on them and if they cant or wont change get out of an impossible situation.
  9. We have 5 days but I try to do it within 1-2 day since I work full time. I dont want to get to far behind. Would never be able to catch up. Never know when I'm going to get the next admit or even someone elses recert.
  10. my question is about PTA- we only have physical therapists and they are stretched very thin. What duties do the aide have?
  11. It takes longer to chart than see the pt. My HH agency wont even consider an updated computer program because of the cost. But I feel it would save time for all the worker in the office. Any idea's on how to make them see the light.
  12. I too have RA, I'm 56 years old have had it for 3 years now. The rheumatologist still hasnt got my meds controlling it yet. But just had an appt because of a flair and increased pain in feet, knee's,back, hands. My insurance had to have me try and fail the old drugs first, but since I have now failed I can try the new drugs. So I am hopeful for a better year with less pain. I have to really push myself sometimes to get through the day. I am now in Home Health and love it but sometimes have to see 6-7 patients and travel up to 2 hours to see them. But it's still not as hard as the Pulmonologists office I worked in running for 8-10 hours a day. So my situation has improved. And my DON has just offered me a job as an RN intake/coder for our agency where I would just be in the office for 8 hours a day. My moto is to just keep plugging along and planning for the future. Which for me will be retirement in about ? 7years. Unless I like that job a lot. Things just keep changing in Nursing, roll with the punchs.
  13. I would be worried about the liability because you are not employed by the school. Talk to the principle and ask their opinion about the liability, they may side with you. Then you can tell the others that he/or she doesnt want to you do those things.
  14. I agree with the above answer. Go to your Don and tell them you dont feel comfortable doing a SOC or being on your own to much to learn yet. Good Luck.
