Anatomy and Chem this Fall...who else?
Hey Everybody! I'm taking A&P II, Micro, & CHEM this Fall. Labs as well. I'm also taking College Algebra & Speech:uhoh21: I'm not going to be working so I will be in school all day. I have no children so there shouldn't be a distraction. I'm in Italy right now, but I'm going back to stay with my sis to finish up the remaining pre-reqs. I still need Organic Chem, but I won't be here in Jan. to take it. I might stay, I don't know. We are military and we pick orders soon. I'm going to school at Tyler Junior College in Texas. Anybody been there?

STUDY ABROAD during pre-nursing
curiousstudent5, I am military spouse stationed in Italy and I am working on finishing my pre-reqs for nursing school. It isn't hard what so ever. You will have to be patient with the classes. Not all courses are offered every term compared to the States? Where are you located? I am not in a program with any school anymore. I graduated with my AS from Coastline but I am finishing up with UMUC Europe for nursing pre-reqs. When you decide on a school of choice make sure you check their requirements. I am doing more than needed b/c who knows where we will be stationed next. I petitioned for Microbiology face to face and now it's offered next term:yeah: I also petitioned for Chemistry for Science Majors and its offered in January:yeah:Biology & A&P was already offered face to face. Majority of my classes were taken online. It can be done.

I'm Looking for a Organic Chemistry with Lab Online
Most Online Science courses with lab have what is called a virtual lab. Also depending on the class, you can do the lab experiments at home with your own lab kit that you buy and forward your results to your teacher. I have found 1 school, but it cost about $1000 for this one class.

I'm Looking for a Organic Chemistry with Lab Online
Hello, I am looking for an Organic Chemistry with Lab or Intro to Organic & Biochemistry with Lab offered online. Can anyone recommend a good school that has this online? Thanks

Online Chemistry and AP1 courses
TineDiddy - To be honest, there is not a requirement (unless you schools says it in writing) that your classes can not be taken online. When you send your official transcripts to your school of choice, it will not say Online or Face-to-Face. Now, since I am overseas, I did ask my school if they will accept it only b/c I didn't know if it would transfer. They told me to send them the syllabus and course description and I did and it does transfer. For me I am only taking my classes online b/c I am stationed overseas. If I was still in the States, I would be in a classroom just b/c Chemistry & Microbiology online is no joke. True it can be done, but you have to really focus and be disciplined b/c they can be hard. I am working with UMUC Europe to get a Micro face-to-face. I have petitioned it and we will see. We have a teacher to teach it and we have over 30 students, we are just waiting on them to agree.

Online Chemistry and AP1 courses
Rio Salado CC has all the courses online, but be careful b/c they have two different Microbiology courses and one is for 2 credits & the other is for 4 credits. Everything else looks like it would be easy and fast. It's always available too....

Microbiology-Spring 2008
Hi Solidus, What school do you attend? I was just curious b/c ususally you are not allowed to take Part II while taking Part I. The pre-req for Part II is usually Part I, if you do not have a passing grade how can you advance to the next level? I'm just curious. But if you are allowed to, then to you b/c A&P I is hard by itself, A&P II is even harder. At least at my school b/c we have 10 week terms...

Microbiology - Summer 09
Julwh-I emailed my two schools of choice and asked about the Science classes online again. I heard a reply back from 1 already. She said she will check to make sure b/c they told her that her's wouldn't be accepted but it was. I want to know before I get in these classes online and they won't be accepted. If I have to go back to the States for a few months to take my classes, I will. I will just stay with my Sis for the time being.

TEAS or NET Study Guide Info
Wow!! Geology? I wouldn't have guessed that. My book hasn't arrived yet, but I have been using learnatest.com for the time being. I guess that does make since b/c it says it covers Natural Sciences...I just wouldn't have guessed. Thanks for the info...I can prepare now....

Microbiology - Summer 09
Piglet68 - The schools said is should be fine, but that is what I was worried about myself. The lab is also done online. You have to do your experiments at home and report the results. If done properly the results will be right. It gives you 4 credits and the Course Description says its for Science students. I am not in the military anymore. My husband is still active duty tho. I've asked UMUC to get a face to face Micro over here, but we're overseas so we're limited...

Microbiology - Summer 09
I have to take Microbiology too. I am taking it in Fall I b/c it wasn't offered this term in the Summer. I have to take it online b/c I am stationed overseas and it's not offered face-to-face. TEAS or NET Study Guide Info
Bluechick-Did you take the NET or TEAS? So the ATI Practiced worked for the NET too? That I wasn't sure of. I am taking the TEAS since we are going to Cali now, if we were still going to GA I would have to take the NET for GA.

National University San Diego
Thank you for the welcome SanDiegoNurse2bAt48. You are right about the waiting times and money issues. But I guess I will have to way the pros & cons. Being in Italy is very nice. I get to travel so much and to so many different places for a fraction of the cost if I was coming from the States. I am not in the Navy anymore, my husband is still Active duty. We are in the Navy.....(You see I said we, b/c I support him too...) Socalsi - I am a prior HM as well and I work in the Navy College Office now, how many credits were you given for A&P? 1 or 3? That makes the difference, also to be honest I would recommend you still take A&P I along with II b/c even if they accept your credits, you still need II. Go ahead, it will be an easy 'A' Now on the MGIB, I have Chapter 30 at the moment, but I am transferring to Post 9/11 b/c it pays more. Think about it this way: Chapter 30 is more of a reimbursement situation. Yes they will pay you the amount you are authorized every month 'AFTER' you call and verify enrollment, but you do not get all the perks that you will get with the new one. Post 9/11 will pay for you Tuition at the highest rate per term at a public university/college at instate rate. (NU is not public they are private so you will have to come out of pocket on Tuition) Also Post 9/11 will pay for 'Fees' as well:yeah: (no out of pocket fees for me) plus you will get BAH at the rate of an E-5 w/dependants at the zip code of your school (That's about 2300 for SD) and you also get 1000 for books every term....Hopefully they will change their mind and participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program, but who knows.... Word of Caution: To get all your extra perks, you have to be 'OFF' Active duty....The do not give you the BAH strippend while on Active duty...If you start while on Active duty use your TA...It will be covered, plus if it ends up to be more, you can request Top-Up with the VA. I know I will have to pay tuiton but oh well. It's worth it. I will still make out more than if I keep Chapter 30 Go to http://www.gibill.va.gov/GI_Bill_Info/benefits.htm And read about the VA benefits. If you are still confused, go talk to a VA Representative or call the VA....If you need more help, PM me....
